Etienne Lombard was born in Windhoek, Namibia, and from an early age nurtured a passion for reading. It was the works of iconic Afrikaans authors such as André P. Brink, Etienne van Heerden and Deon Meyer that ultimately inspired him to take up the pen himself.

In his late fifties he decided that writing was one of those things he had to do before it was too late. He completed several writing courses and began with short stories, some of which were published. His first book, Die Oeroue, was published in November 2025 by Naledi.

His teenfiction novelle, Die Walvisspeurder was published by Malherbe Publishers in March 2026.
