New Series….New Release

Welcome to Silver Falls!

Tucked away at the base of a Montana mountain is the tiny frontier town of Silver Falls. With fur trappers, hard-working cowboys, ladies as sassy as the sky is wide, and an eccentric old Scottish Highlander who always has a story to tell, there’s never a dull moment. Head back to the 1800’s in this brand new historical western romance series.

Running away from home to marry the man she thought was the love of her life should have been the happy ending Victoria Stanford expected it to be, but things rarely work out as one plans. When her husband suddenly dies and leaves her stranded in the middle of nowhere, alone and scared, she thinks she’s saved when she sees three men headed her way. Relief turns to fear when she realizes they weren’t the type of men a single woman should trust. When they chase up the side of a mountain and overtake her, she does the only thing she can. She screams and hopes they kill her quickly.

Gideon Hart has spent the last six years roaming the mountain after tragedy changed his life forever. Since then, he’s never encountered another living soul other than his brother—until now. The scream he hears echoing through the trees brings back memories he’s been trying to forget. When he finds a woman being attacked, he does what he has to in order to ensure her safety. Getting her to town should be his only concern but the trek across the mountain with Victoria causes his world to shift and for feelings he’s denied himself for too long to surface. He doesn’t deserve to be loved. With a past like his, no one would love him once they found out what he’d done. Getting Victoria to Silver Falls is the only way to save them both but as the nights grow longer and winter settles in over the mountain, one soft kiss may change both their lives.

A SOFT KISS IN WINTER is book 1 in a brand new, historical western romance series, that takes place in Silver Falls, Montana, a fictional town nestled at the base of the mountain waterfall. There are four books planned and a few cross-over characters from Willow Creek will show up from time to time. The book is scheduled to release on November 16th. Take a look below to find out what this story is all about.

Friday First Kiss #119 :: Abby and Joshua, Down to the River, Book 3 by Sheila Hollinghead (Historical Western Romance)

This week’s Friday First Kiss comes from,

Abby and Joshua, Down to the River, Book 3 by Sheila Hollinghead

Abby pulled out the money she kept in a drawstring purse. “Now, how much do I owe you?”

“I ain’t taking a dime from you. I plan to marry you.”

She held up a hand to stop him from moving nearer. “Joshua, you’re young. There are plenty of young ladies who’d be proud to marry you. Miss Williams …”

“I’ve never loved anyone but you.” He stopped, his arms by his side.

His face looked so forlorn that a physical pain shot through her, but she steeled herself. “My husband was killed. Even though I was wronged, scandal will trail me the rest of my life. You don’t want to be part of that.”

“I’m sorry, Abby. I know it ain’t the proper time to talk of marriage.” His eyes searched hers and she had to look down for a moment to regain her composure.

When she raised her eyes to his, he had moved closer. She sighed. “I’m about to have a baby. Do you really want to take on the job of raising another man’s child? Raising a child is not easy.”

He knelt beside her, his hand on her arm, his mouth close to her ear. “Marriage doesn’t mean easy. It means to stay steady and true, no matter what comes.”

She cleared her throat and tried again. “Find a nice girl your age, like Miss Williams.”

“I don’t care about Miss Williams …” He leaned closer. “I only care about you.”

His voice mesmerized her, and she didn’t protest when he cupped her face in his hands. His lips brushed hers, softly and gently.

Sensations swept over her, new and frightening, and yet as if she discovered something already known. She leaned toward him, and his hands slid down her arms.

She broke free and laughed shakily, but his lips immediately returned to cover hers with a warmth and strength she needed, that she had always needed.

The door swung open and Mrs. Franklin stared, her mouth agape. Joshua jumped to his feet.

“Do you want me to come back later?” Mrs. Franklin asked.

The heat rose to Abby’s cheeks. “No. We were just talking. Please come in.”

Friday First Kiss #118 :: Wilhelmina, A Winter Bride by Hildie McQueen (Historical Western Romance)

Friday First Kiss

This week’s Friday First Kiss comes from,

Wilhelmina, A Winter Bride by Hildie McQueen

By the time supper was over and Wilhelmina was able to retire to the bedroom to prepare for bed, she could barely stand. The thought of what was to come, however, kept her very much alert. It would not do at all to be too tired to remember her wedding night. The first night she became a real woman was something she wanted to commit to memory.

While brushing out her hair, Marcus entered the room. She felt silly at the now familiar fluttering in her stomach. He came up to where she sat and stood behind her. “You have beautiful hair.”

“Thank you.” Her breath caught when he swept her hair aside and pressed a kiss to the juncture of her neck and shoulder. Shivers traveled down her spine at the warm lips touching her skin. He smelled clean, freshly bathed. It was then she noticed the damp curls that touched his collar.

In the mirror, she watched him dispense of his clothing, not seeming at all abashed that she could see him. He went to the bed and pulled back the sheets. When he turned and met her gaze in the mirror, the normally light hazel eyes were dark with promise.

“Come to bed, Wife.” He stood by the bed, waiting for her to come to him. He was not hurrying her but, at the same time, the idea of what would occur shook her until Wilhelmina wasn’t sure standing was possible.

Of course, she’d been told what transpired between a man and a woman in the marriage bed. She and Aurora had many a talk on the subject between giggles and wrinkling of noses. The entire business seemed so brash and, frankly, rudimentary. Yet seeing him unclothed except for underwear, she actually wanted to touch him and be touched by the handsome man.

It was a wonder the brush in her hand didn’t break in half by the strength of her grasp on its handle. Wilhelmina took in a shaky breath and placed it down on the dresser top, then stood to remove her robe.

Before he could touch her, she hurriedly rushed to slide between the sheets and pulled them up to cover her chest. She watched wide-eyed as Marcus pulled his bottoms off. His manhood was so different than what she expected. Unable to look away, she studied his nudity with interest. She was shocked by how fast her breathing became.

When he came to lie next to her, she froze, panicked at knowing any moment now, he’d mount her. And the part of him she’d thought much too large to fit, in any form, would be driven into her body.

Wilhelmina let out an involuntary yelp when Marcus leaned over her. His chuckle made her scowl up at him. “No need to make fun of me. I don’t think it’s very gentlemanly of you to do so.”

“You’re scared of what is about to happen. I apologize.” Sounding not at all apologetic, he pressed a kiss on her lips. “Relax, I will go slow and give you time.”

His touch was soft, the press of his body against hers ever so perfect. He deepened the next kiss and she found herself not wanting him to stop.

Instead of pushing away as she’d hoped not to do, she clung to his shoulders, never wishing their closeness to end.

Minutes later, the room and everything in the surroundings disappeared as Wilhelmina became lost in the caresses and sounds of their lovemaking.

Wilhelmina, A Winter Bride by Hildie McQueen

If opposites attract these two strangers will collide with the force of a raging storm.

Out of options, Wilhelmina Wilkins heads west to marry a total stranger upon answering a mail order bride ad. What could have been a fairytale beginning turns out to be this bride’s nightmare. Instead of meeting Wilhelmina at the train station, her husband-to-be is in the center of town brawling.

Marcus Hamilton is blindsided twice, first, by a mail order bride ad posted for him by his mother and sister, and secondly, by the beauty of the woman who arrives to marry him. That the bride wishes to cancel all plans after he fails to make a good first impression will not do. How far will Marcus have to go to prove his worth?

This week’s Friday First Kiss comes from,

Divine Gamble by Charlene Raddon

After several songs, he lowered the harmonica and turned to her. Maisy froze. The air filled suddenly with an electrical charge that had nothing to do with lightning. His eyes were a dark brandy hue, the intensity of his gaze reminding her of a similar moment in Otto’s Mercantile that first day in Lost Creek.

“I’d sell my soul to kiss you right now,” he said, his voice low and breathy.

Her pulse did a back flip. She began to tremble. Leave. Leave now, before it’s too late. But she wanted that kiss. Desperately.

Brose leaned close, closer. Finally, their lips met. His were softer than she expected, coffee-flavored, yet sweet. Their mouths fit perfectly. His moved over hers with a gentleness that reached clear into her heart. He spread kisses over her face, forehead, eyes, cheeks, jaw, even the side of her neck. Need burst inside her and spread through her body.

His arms tightened around her. When had he embraced her? Rather than being alarmed, she savored how good it felt to be held again. When the kiss ended, he stayed where he was. He rested his forehead against hers, their noses touching slightly. His breath blew warm on her lips, damp from his kisses.

Brose took her hand, kissed her palm then placed it flat against his chest. Through his shirt, she could feel his mother’s cross. And his heart, thudding in a rhythm that matched hers. Abruptly reminded of the fruitlessness of allowing a relationship to grow between them, she yanked her hand away.

He grabbed it and drew it back. “Touch me,” he whispered. “It’s been so long.”

For her as well.

But Maisy’s head filled suddenly with memories of the last time she’d let a man talk her into sharing such intimacies—and of the life-altering result.

“No.” She jerked free and leaped to her feet. “I—I can’t do this.”

He stood. “Don’t go.”

“I must. This is…dangerous.”

Pivoting on her heel, she ran to her horse, Hock, and Soda on her heels, and threw herself onto the saddle.

The Preacher never meant to become a gunman. Sometimes life deals a man a hard hand. Always alone, always hunted, he dreams of all he’s been denied—peace, family, love.

The moment Maisy and The Preacher meet, their lives change once more. United in battle against a powerful enemy, they fight side by side, but can they beat the odds they face? Is love worth the biggest gamble man has ever known?

This week’s Friday First Kiss comes from,

A Cowboy’s Heart by Vicki Lewis Thompson

“I just have one more thing to say.”

“What’s that?”

“This.” Stepping toward him, Nicole stood on tiptoe, cupped the back of his head and pulled him down for a kiss, knocking off his hat in the process.

Bryce was so startled that she caught him with his mouth open and she took advantage of that. Her lips were warm and sweet to start with, but then she began to explore with her tongue. Oh, yeah. Cradling her head in both hands, he shifted the angle and began to participate.

Her soft whimper fired his blood and he delved deeper. So good. So very, very—

Gasping, she wiggled out of his grasp. “Just…wanted to…leave you with…that thought.” She backed away, her chest heaving.

He struggled for air as he watched her walk to her truck. A cool breeze caressed his damp mouth. She started the engine, backed out and drove away. He continued to stand there, dazed by the impact of that kiss. He couldn’t have moved if a bear had been coming right for him. Okay, maybe if a grizzly had shown up.

But oh, when he pulls her into his arms, rational thought goes out the window. He’s even winning over her cat.

They say that music soothes the savage beast, but can it mend a cowboy’s broken heart?
