When Zev shook his head and started to reply, she asked “Then why am I here?”
He shifted in his chair.
“We were hoping you might accept being part of an experiment.”
And there it was, the other shoe has dropped. A chill ran down Eliza’s spine. “What experiment?”
Zev put up his palms and started to wave them in the air. Eliza realized now it had to be the alien version of a calming gesture.
