Things I Learned at RT Booklovers 2012

1. Spread the word. Have plenty of swag–buttons, bookmarks, etc.–on hand. You never know when you’ll need them. Buttons especially–folks can pin them to their conference ID tags. 2. Be a part of it.Take advantage of all the con has to offer–panels, meet-and-greets, and the opportunity to meet random readers and writers in the hotel [...]

My Happy List

I’m answering a question posed by design/scrapbook blogger Elizabeth Kartchner and offering up some things on my current “happy” list. 1. Flip-flop weather. Being surrounded by green after a short winter (by Midwestern standards) and very early spring. 2. Writing in the warm, evening breeze on our deck. 3. My Timex Weekender watch. Great face, [...]

Chicago, here I come!

I'm T minus two days from my Thursday departure to Chicago for this year's 2012 RT Booklovers convention. I fly in Thursday evening and will pop into the con bright and early Friday morning. Saturday, I hop over to C2E2 with Charlaine Harris and Christina Henry, and Sunday afternoon I'm on a plane home again. [...]

Sometimes he makes me swoon . . .

From BITING COLD . . . Ethan leaned in, his lips at my ear. "Irresistible force," he said. "Immovable object. Choose the one you want to be, and do it. You are a vampire of great power, Merit. Prove it to us, to the city of Chicago, to the Houses. Prove it now." Sigh.

Chicagoland Vampires No. 7

I'm about to start writing the seventh Chicagoland Vampires novel, which will be released in February 2013. (Not to be confused with Book Six, BITING COLD, which will be released in August 2012.) Jeremy suggested a first line for Book Seven: In the beginning, there were Mallocakes . . . And now he says I [...]

Would you like to fill Merit's shoes?

Chelsea at Vampire Book Club considers which literary heroine she'd like to be, and Merit comes to mind . . . The crazy pants choice: Merit from Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series . . . I'll work that katana, I'd seduce Ethan and plot a way to run a blade through meddling vampires from the GP. [...]
