Coco Ma is a Canadian author and pianist. She wrote her first novel, Shadow Frost, at the age of 15, and since she began playing the piano at the age of five and a half, she has also performed on some of the world's greatest concert stages and graduated with a pre-college diploma in piano performance from The Juilliard School in New York City. Currently, she studies at Yale University. When she isn't practicing piano, writing, or studying, you might find her bingeing Netflix or eating cake. Lots of cake.

Try not to worry about achieving the end result but enjoy the process of practicing your craft. Music has always been an enormous inspiration for my writing, but you're right, it was sometimes tough to balance my hours at both the piano and computer keyboard! Sometimes I had a piece of paper next to the piano and if I had ideas in the middle of practicing, I'd write them down. I also typed on my phone while on my way to school! But nowadays the best way for me to work on my books is to sit down at the end of a long day, turn on some music (I always listen to it while I write), and (try to) get in the zone. Good luck!(less)
