Book Launch V3.0

The book launch for "God of Clocks" will be held at Waterstones, at the West End of Princes Street in Edinburgh. It's at 6pm on Thursday the 23rd July. Anyone who wants to come along is welcome. You can get (free) tickets by phoning Waterstones on 0131 226 2666. But you will probably have to listen to me speak, for which I apologise.

I should really be blogging more, but I never seem to get round to it. When I'm writing, I prefer to be writing fiction.

So what's happened lately?

God of Clocks

Scotland on Sunday did a nice piece on God of Clocks, and the Deepgate Codex as a whole. The good thing about not reading reviews is that when somebody sends you one, it's generally a nice one. This was one of those occasions when my family went out and bought multiple copies of the newspaper. (Although, saying that, it also contained a special memorial supplement on Michael Jackson, which might have had something to do with it.)

IN THE hierarchy of bookish values, literature trumps crime, crime

Inspirational

Ok... Sorry for the lack of updates. I've been away for a while. I was going to blog about best man speeches, since I've been trying to write one for a while now. (Hardest thing I've ever done).
But later, later. First you have to see these wonderful images. Two different styles, but both from talented artists.

Art V2.0

Another couple of great images of Carnival from feralphoenix The first image will make immediate sense to those of you who have read "God of Clocks". Could it be counted as a spoiler? Who cares. These are too good not to post.

Carnival, Russian Style

While we're on this arty theme...

Copies of the Russian version of "Scar Night" arrived today, complete with a mad fab fantasy cover in which Carnival has lost her scars, but gained a vampire rock-chick leotard and some Freddy Krueger finger-blades to compensate. Not that I mind. I think it's outrageously cool. It's not every day you see your name in Cyrillic.

Deepgate Art

Over the next few days I'm going to be posting some superb artwork created by fans of the series. It's been an absolute delight to discover these pictures, and I'm very much in awe of the talent on display. I'll post them as soon as the artists give me permission to do so.

Here is a striking, atmospheric image of Carnival by MadMindInc

And a wonderful drawing of Dill on the spire of his tower by freddyfrijolero

Gary Mckinnon

I received the following email, and thought I'd post it here. I've always felt that this was a ridiculously harsh punishment to give a computer geek looking for aliens, so I've signed the petition. If you agree, then hopefully some of you will sign it, too.

Gary Mckinnon hacked into insecure US government systems. Why? Well there are many sides to this story, the US government, Gary's and I guess the whole PR offensive to save him from extradition. Gary is clearly a young man with exceptional
