Prayer Requests
I've been crushed, so I haven't had time to post a prayer request for the people of Norway, for the victims of this monstrous crime, and for the man who killed them. Father hear our prayer for the grieving who live, for the dead that they may rest in peace, and for the man who killed them, that he may be converted Jesus Christ and away from this false messianic political ideology of murder dressed up as your gospel. Mother Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

If you could post a prayer request to your blog, I would greatly appreciate it. A good friend of my mother's has a husband who has struggled with a terminal illness for years. He is being taken off life support, and will probably pass away before the day is out. Thank you.Father, hear our prayer for this man that he may be granted the grace of a happy death through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, pray for him.
Another reader writes:
Could you ask your readers to pray for my brother? He has been an atheist for many years now. While he was visiting my mom, he asked me for a number of books suggestions, so I gave him the best I had of philosophy and Christianity. I don't know if he's thinking about converting, but he could certainly use any extra prayers he could get. Also, his wife and he recently separated and they have a child. So, I'd ask that you pray for the whole family, for all their needs and intentions and that God leads them all to their eternal home in heaven.Father, grant this man the grace of conversion and discipleship as a follower of Jesus Christ. Restore his marriage and family to the glory of your name and their eternal happiness. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for them![image error]

Yay! Local Theatre!
Peter (aka Son No. 3) is in this show (though, alas, not in the video since he was at Scout camp when they shot it):

WYD Cultural Program Participants Must Be Endorsed by Bishops' Conferences[image error]
It has come to our attention that Michael Voris, a US based media producer, is scheduled to offer independent catechesis sessions out of a hotel in Madrid during World Youth Day 2011. There has been some confusion regarding his affiliation with World Youth Day. Michael Voris, the clergy and the laity associated with him, and their media efforts "Real Catholic TV" and "No Bull in Madrid" are not in any way recognized or approved by World Youth Day 2011.

Long time daily reader here, writing from Manhattan from the Family Life Office in the Archdiocese of New York. (Here with the Sisters of Life and Archbishop Dolan)As far as prayers go, you have them. Father, bless this new family as they begin their journey together into the sacrament of marriage and the joys of family. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary and St. Joseph, pray for them.
I guess I just had a request/question for you. I'll try to make the long story short – after serving for 2 years with a lay-catholic missionary group in Honduras called Missioners of Christ (in which I worked with a young lady Emily who wrote a blog that you linked during the supposed "Coup" in 2009) and learning Spanish, I find myself as the assistant coordinator for Spanish programs here at the Archdiocese. I'm also engaged to be married in October of this year to my fiancé Cristina, who also happened to serve long-term with the same community in Honduras (although we missed eachother by a week or two when I was moving back to the US to finish my degree).
So, along with humbly asking for general prayers, we just started a blog about our experience as a mixed "gringo-latina couple" trying to live our Catholic faith in NYC….and with all of the new laws and mess going on here, its quite interesting. We also help lead a ministry in the Bronx called Corazon Puro which is a Chastity/Theology of the Body outreach for youth (happens to be bilingual) led by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal.
Through all of this, from coming together from 2 VERY different cultures(Cristina is ½ Dominican and ½ Puerto Rican, im white Amuurican)to living out chastity and traveling and speaking about it to youth all over NYC, to planning a beautiful wedding on a SUPER low budget as well as having a desire to serve in our vocation in the mission field, we have been encouraged by many to start blogging and sharing about it. We just published it last week, and have a lot of work to do with it.
I guess I was looking for your advice, as well as any help promoting it. It would be merely for evangelizing and sharing with others our stories…for the Lord has written an amazing love story, one we could never have imagined ourselves. Let me know what you think, I understand how busy you are, so I wouldn't be offended if you don't have the time!
"Que Dios te bendiga" – May God bless you!

As to advertising the blog, write other blogger, tell them you exist. Ask them to put up a link. I think people will come.
Hey all y'all check out Andrew and Cristina's blog! So lovely to see love grow!

Today my minions, I bid you contemplate the sufferings of those who live outside the Pacific Northwest:

Here in the blue Soviet of Washington, we have just had our first day of summer. 82 whopping degrees for an entire couple of hours yesterday. Before that, battleship grey skies and rain off and on (though it was pleasant on the Fourth of July and the sun has come out on ocassion.
Here in the Dark Tower, of course, it's not a problem. The pinnacle reaches well above the cloud cover, so I can still leave victims tied up to fry in the thin air with a tube of sun block just beyond their reach. But still, it has been a long time coming. So I can only read the apocalyptic tales of Heat Wave for so long with being consumed with envy. It has, however, inspired me to get going with that whole "Doomsday Squads Ignite the Atmosphere" idea that Jonathan Coulton suggested. If there's one thing Dark Lord's get cranky about, it's other people having a good time when we are brooding.
As to today's instructions to the inhabitants in my Pits of Despair: go swimming. My alligators need feeding.
That is all!
