Day 1 of the Quarterly Tin Cup Rattle

If you like what you read here, please help keep an emphatically lower middle class writer solvent so he can keep bringing you the weird combination of offbeat humor, theological ramblings, ecclesial and civil politics, and various cultural ephemera that you've come to realize you can't live without. Click on the PayPal button to the left and help CAEI stay on the air and our kids stay fed, housed, and driven around. You can either make a straight donation or, if you like to get something for your money, you can buy my books and tapes (autographed even!). And if you'd rather not do the PayPal thang, feel free to email me and ask for my snailmail address. I'll happily take a check instead.

Also, do remember that I'm available to come and speak.

John C. Wright...

...tells the story of his conversion to a reader who regards him as a sort of fabulous gryphon. It's a riveting tale, and nothing in it is impossible, but of course those with an irrational commitment to atheism find it incredible for no good reason other than their irrational commitment to atheism. Cue the dorky "real" explanations of what happened. Wright has fun with them. Meanwhile, I say "Glory to God for his gracious love to his servant and son, John C. Wright!"

Prayer Requests

A reader writes:
A friend called me last night telling me his friend was possibly going to die in the hospital. This was 1:30 AM in the morning. i would like prayers that his friend won't die. But more importantly I would like prayers that my friend gain clarity of mind. I have doubts that my friend is possibly deluded in his evaluation. He often calls me with weird stories about his life and he is either lying or deluded or confused or a combo of all.
Father, we pray for the man who may be dying, that you will heal him or grant him the grace of a happy death. And we pray for my reader's friend, that he be granted clarity of mind and clear guidance from your Holy Spirit to know the right and do it through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, pray for all concerned. Amen!

Another reader writes:
The mother of my daughter's friend died suddenly on Friday evening. Please pray for her and the whole family; it's already been a tough year for them, and it just got tougher .... Thanks!
Father, grant eternal rest to this woman and grace, peace, consolation and strength to this family and all who love them, through Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
