Patience

It’s said that “patience is a virtue,” but I have a difficult time being patient. Yet I don’t think I’m without virtues.

My patience runs thin with ignorant, rude people. My patience’s is infinite with toddlers. Toddlers are just trying to learn how the world works. I’m trying to learn that myself!

If you struggle with patience, remember that you aren’t missing virtues. You are simply human…

Don’t Do It!

Life is hard. Sometimes it seems like every time you get on track, something knocks you back down.

If you ever feel like giving up, just step away for a brief time. But whatever you do, don’t quit. Quitting is never an option…

Help is Available

Mental health has been shredded during the past two years due to isolation. We are hardwired to be in relationship with each other. Anxiety and depression are up over 25%. Suicides and suicidal ideation are soaring, too.

There is help available. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression, anxiety or contemplating taking your life, please call someone. Life is precious, and you can have a fulfilling life with purpose and meaning. Take the brave step and seek help. Don’t suffer in silence…

The Silence of Fear

Most people are living in fear of something. The genesis of fear can be traced to the past. Perhaps we have experienced loss and are afraid of losing again.

Fear remains silent because we don’t want to be seen as fearful. Facing our fears frees us from the hold the past has on us, allowing us to experience more from life.

Do you want to live fully? Face your fears and they become powerless over you…

Repeated Failures

Did you ever try to accomplish something over and over again, simply to become frustrated and irritated? We all have.

Don’t quit. Step away from what you are doing and take a walk. Maybe a short nap is in order. You must refresh your mind and change your thinking. A solution is waiting for you, as long as you’re willing to keep going…

Entertainers and Politics

For over 20 years, there has been a growing trend for those in the entertainment world to willingly share their views on political and societal issues. In my opinion, they may keep their opinions to themselves.

We go to concerts, movies and the theater to escape the real world for a short while. Life is still waiting for us after the show. We want the world to be right for just a couple of hours.

Only an outsized ego believes we care about the entertainer’s politics. Just my humble opinion…

My Interview With The Reverend Dr. Daryl Horton

The Reverend Dr. Daryl Horton has a remarkable humility about him. In our conversation, we discussed his calling to the ministry, his challenges getting there, the “rules of religion,” and how God has always shown up. Have you ever wondered how a pastor gives a eulogy for someone they don’t know? Or are you curious about how prayer works? It’s all there and more in our interview.

Goal Tending

Do you set goals? Some people make New Years resolutions which are, in essence, goals. Yet they aren’t the same.

Resolutions are things you want to resolve within yourself. Perhaps it’s a behavior you wish to change.

Goals are achievement-oriented. Goals are definable, measurable, and they should stretch you to reach them. This is one of the ways we grow.

Set goals for yourself, and check your progress regularly. Then look back after a period of time and see how far you’ve progressed.

Reputation

Recently, a reporter resigned from a nationally-known newspaper because she falsified her sources. Her reputation has been ruined.

Our own reputations are on the line every day. The world is watching how we conduct ourselves. People might believe something about us that is untrue, but honesty and integrity win out every time.

It is my hope that the reporter does the hard work to restore her reputation. And I also hope the world will give her another chance. If she is true in her contrition, she will find restoration. If she’s not sincere, well…

Two Bicycle Mechanics

Do you find yourself believing that if you were better educated you would pursue the greatness you know is inside of you?

Consider the story of two uneducated bicycle mechanics from Dayton, Ohio. You know them as the Wright brothers. Had they allowed their lack of formal schooling to hold them back, I wouldn’t be writing about them today.

Never underestimate the power of your imagination…
