NaNoWriMo

November is National Novel Writing Month, also known as NaNoWriMo. (It took me about two years to figure out how to consistently say that word.)

After spending most of my writing hours marketing Dickensen Academy the past few months, I am happy to spend this month more focused on writing. My goal is to draft a sequel to Dickensen Academy by the end of the year. That might be a stretch considering the holidays are quickly approaching. But I'm going to try.

If you haven't read my first book, consider adding it to your "to read" list. Dickensen Academy

And now, back to writing the next book.

Release Week

This has been the most exciting week of my writing career. Here are the highlights:

1 - In the past three days, Dickensen Academy was #1 in New Releases on Amazon in children's coming of age fantasy.

2 - I had my first book signing.

3 - I met so many wonderful and inspiring writers at the PNWA conference the past four days.

4 - Reviews of the book keep popping up everywhere.

I"m actually looking forward to a more quiet week beginning tomorrow.

Dickensen Academy

Dickensen Academy will be released on Sept. 12 by The Wild Rose Press. I would love it if my Goodreads friends and followers considered checking it out.

It is a YA paranormal/fantasy.

It may be a dream come true when Autumn Mattison discovers her boarding school is teaching an unbelievable secret. But as she uncovers more about the dark side of the high school and struggles with its curriculum, she questions whether Dickensen Academy is where she truly belongs. Caught between secrets and dreams, can she find her true self?

Preparing for book release

Now that Dickensen Academy has finished with the big edits, I have shifted much of my time to creating and implementing a marketing plan.

It's a whole new world as I learn about the hundreds of ways I can promote my book. Some free and some with a huge price tag. Of course, I can't do everything, so I'm trying to prioritize as well as spend some time each week editing my work in process and re-reading Dickensen Academy now in a PDF version to make make sure it looks good they way it is laid out on the pages. Until this point it has been in Word.

Back to updating my website. And then time to take Ruby for a walk.
