Dark Horse Comics in conjunction with the Comic Art Professional Society is producing the “The Sakai Project: Artists Celebrate Thirty Years of Usagi Yojimbo” benefit book.
Here’s my finished pin-up for the book. The original art will be auctioned off later with all proceeds going to Stan and Sharon Sakai.
I’ll keep you guys updated.

It has been a cabin fever weekend here at Casa Cho. Our area was hit with back-to-back snow storms. With lousy weather like this, there’s nothing really to do but to draw and write, and trying not to get on each others nerves. I actually had fun drawing with my daughters at the big kitchen table, with the Disney channel blasting in the background.
Here are couple of Marvel covers that I’m in process of finishing up. I’ve been really enjoying creating these covers and playing around with the compositions. Marvel will have the finished and colored covers up soon.

Dark Horse will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo with the release of the oversized hardcover benefit book, “The Sakai Project: Artists Celebrate Thirty Years of Usagi Yojimbo.” (July release.)
Stan Sakai is one of the best cartoon storytellers in the business. His fabulous comic book, Usagai Yojimbo, a story of masterless samurai in feudal Japan, is one of the longest published creator-owned comic book around. Stan Sakai is simply a legend and a great inspiration for all of us writer-artist working in the trenches. And on top of that, Stan is also one of the nicest human being on the planet.
For those who don’t know, a great misfortune has fallen upon Stan Sakai and his family. Stan’s wife, Sharon Sakai suffers from a debilitating illness that required an extended hospital stay and convalescence. She requires 24-hour home care and medications that exceed their insurance coverage. Dark Horse Comics in conjunction with the Comic Art Professional Society is producing the “The Sakai Project: Artists Celebrate Thirty Years of Usagi Yojimbo” benefit book, with all proceeds will go to Stan and Sharon Sakai.
Here is my contribution to this worthy book, my rendition of Stan’s greatest character, Usagi Yojimbo. It’s still work in progress but I hope to have it inked and finished by this weekend.
