A Chance of Showers
melancholy’s
steely gray clouds
blow in quickly
pelt my exposed skin
icy sleet
leave me clutching
my breast
with raw, chapped hands
in futile effort
to protect
delicate tissue
from thousands of
stinging needles
called longing
for a past
I never had
future selves
I will never be

Kodak Moments
time moves
and shuffles
negatives in vintage
slide carousel
moments of a life
captured briefly
in skeletal black
and white
before jarring click
and whirl
advances me forward
the past projecting
in a blur of cardboard
framed images
I can no longer touch
slideshow ends forlornly
in fan’s plastic hum
while dust motes float
in bare bulb’s glow
softly illuminating
the blank expanse
of uncertain future
and shuffles
negatives in vintage
