Grooving ~ Forbidden
There are many definitions to grooving. The one I’m exploring is all about things I enjoy. So I’ll be sharing with you some things that get me grooving. This can be anything from books, movies, tv shows, things I am cooking, places I have been, just fun or anything my mind comes up with. This is all about things I find enjoyable and fun. I’m rereading a Elizabeth Lowell book.
Read Forbidden.
This book is one of my favorite I reread. Always enjoy it. The book is so good. I enjoy the characters. I love this book.

Another awesome week of writing. Made even more progress on my book.

Between the Covers ~ Ashia
Today’s Between the Covers is an excerpt from Ashia, Kemet Uncovered, Book #6. Enjoy.
There she was again.
This time she was alone.
Reid Jacobs’s pulse pounded faster, which had nothing to do with his running but everything to do with the sexy specimen of womanhood running in front of him. He’d been running in this park for a long time. It wasn’t until a few months ago he noticed the woman. She’d joined another lady—whom he’d nicknamed Ponytail—and a man who came frequently to the park. He’d seen each of them alone at first then they had started to run together. Usually when he and the male passed each other they nodded. Ponytail, on the other hand, kept her head straight and was focused on nothing but her run. At least until she ran with the man.
Then came the day she came with puppies along with the other people. Everything about the woman in white had caught his attention. She was feminine, regal in bearing and all-out sexy. The others with her had faded from his attention and all he saw was her. She moved with confidence, looking so very delectable, despite holding the leashes of four puppies. He wouldn’t even think of approaching her in the group of people with her. Heck, with his shyness he wouldn’t even if she was alone. Most times she was with them.
Reid focused back on the woman running a little ahead of him on the trail. Her long, dark brown hair with blonde highlights was pulled back into a ponytail, which bounced behind her with each step. He heard the puppies barking, which meant they were probably running before her. He missed Liv, his German Shepherd who usually joined him, with him. He’d left her home to rest since she had seemed to not be feeling too well.
Reid studied the back of the lady before him. The woman’s red—instead this of white this time—running outfit was beautiful against her ebony skin. Reid zeroed his gaze to the shorts, which hugged her firm butt and showed off toned legs. He jerked his gaze up to her back. He was acting pervy, ogling her ass. That wasn’t like him at all. The nerd in him enjoyed speaking with a woman more than gawking at their physical form. Yet since the first day he had seen this woman, he’d been drawn to her. It baffled him. He’d never been led by baser urges.
Maybe you can just say hi. What’s the harm in that?
He snorted in disgust at himself. No, that’s a bad idea. I’ll come across as a babbling idiot. Or worse, one of those men who cases the running trails, desperate to hook up with women.
You’re just chickenshit, he countered.
Cluck, cluck.
Reid chuckled. Arguing with himself—yep, he was a little weird. He was so much better with Liv or his computers. Building, then programming a computer was easier than trying to approach a woman. Reid took a fortifying breath. His footfalls hit the ground as he continued to decide if he was actually brave enough to approach the ebony-skinned goddess.
Be brave. You can do this. Reid increased his speed to get closer to the woman.
She turned a corner on the trail. Reid kicked faster to keep her in his sight. Shock then dismay filled him when the trail loomed empty before him. Where did she go? Reid slowed, keeping an eye out for a flash of red, but by the end of his run, he still hadn’t seen her. She must have taken a shortcut. Reid cooled down walking back to his jeep. He grabbed a water bottle from inside, leaned against it and drank. Reid absently nodded to the others going and coming from the trails. Knowing what car she drove, he glanced around and noted her vehicle was gone.
“Way to go, you missed your chance to talk to her.” He got in his vehicle and started it. “Oh well, it wasn’t meant to be.” He already knew he wouldn’t have the guts to even try to talk to her again.

Snippet ~ The Hunt

Wesley glanced at Peyton standing across the yard talking to Pandora, her sisters, aunts, mom and other women at the party. He wondered what mischief the women were up to now. As if sensing his gaze Peyton glanced at him and winked. Although he was too far away to see the look in her gaze he figured it was that mischievous I am up to no good one. Then again maybe he really didn’t want to know. And he sent up a quick prayer it didn’t involve him.
“I hope that whatever they are up to doesn’t involve us.” Ian standing to his right said.
There were sounds of agreement from Savage, Zyric, Peyton’s dad, uncles and brothers as well as other men standing with Wesley.
Wesley figured as he was the men were looking at the women and from their body language, looks toward them and just plain when they got together it lead to trouble they knew they were up to something.
The women suddenly all laughed then headed toward them. Watching Peyton as it always did made Wesley hard. She had this innate rhythm that made him think of music that was wild untamed and so sexy.
“Shit.” Zyric said. “Pandora is smiling.”
Wesley glanced at her and saw she was. That didn’t bode well at all.
“Sinai too.” Ian sighed. “We are so screwed.”
Wesley noticed the wide smirk on Sinai’s face and yeah that was even worst. The women stopped a few steps from them. He noted those who were involved with someone stood before that person while the others just paired off with someone. So it was a man facing a woman.
“Oh lord.” Peyton’s father said. “My wife is…”
As he spoke all the women clothing changed. Wesley felt the magic surge in the air and from the sensation he knew it was Peyton’s mother. The high-collared skin-tight leather body suit, ankle boots and various weapons adorned each women and was meant to intimidate. The body suits and boots matched and were in different colors based on person wearing it. But all Wesley saw was how sexy Peyton looked in her dark rich red clothing. She winked at him again.
Move slow. She telepathically brushed his mind with her words.
Confused he didn’t know what she meant. Peyton’s mom strode out of the line and walked before them. He’d only seen her in more casual flowing clothing. It was amazing how what she wore seemed to change her mannerism. As she walked he could see where her kids had gotten their power and intimidating persona when on the hunt.
“Usually we have a competition. This time the ladies and I decided let’s make it more entertaining. Also to get in some practice.” She smiled and it wasn’t at all comforting. “So we’re the hunters and you will be our targets.” She started back down the line toward them. “We’ll give you a five minute head start.” She then went on to tell them the rules of engagement and that the weapons were loaded with rubber darts that was more of sting, any others like whips and ropes were for containment once caught. The winner of this would be determined by counting who was caught. So if more males were caught by women then the women won and vice versa. “So any questions.”
“Are we allowed to use our own weapons?” Ian asked unsheathing his claws. “Or powers.”
“Of course.” She smiled. “We want to at least give you a fighting chance.”
Wesley knew she didn’t mention not injuring each other since this was all in fun. And they would ensure that it was that and nothing else.
Peyton’s mother stopped just to his left and spoke again. “May the best women win.”
“You mean men.” Peyton’s dad retorted.
“Whatever you think I mean dear.” Peyton’s mother smiled wider.
“God woman you look…” Peyton’s dad grabbed her mother and pulled her to him kissing her.
“Mom…Dad.” The kids cried out.
“I’m scarred for life.” Sinai said covering her eyes.
“We’ve been that for a long time.” Peyton said sighing. She came forward and tugged on her mom.
The couple clung them released each other.
Peyton’s mother breathed out then said in a husky voice. “Don’t try to distract me man.”
“Anytime woman.” Peyton’s dad winked.
“Go.” Peyton’s Mom yelled.
People moved. Ian took off in a run toward Sinai then jumped in mid-air he shifted and from his trajectory he should have taken her down thus winning.
“Not that easy, kitty.” She shimmered and was gone.
Ian landed almost delicately on the ground, he made a growling sound then took off. Wesley shook his head. Seemed like Ian thought he was the one hunting Sinai but Wesley knew the woman was actually lulling Ian into a false sense of the chase.
Pandora pulled a wall of water and laughing she surrounded Zyric and herself. Suddenly the air peeled back and the shadows enveloped them. With Pandora using her gifts and Zyric the shadows Wesley figured they wouldn’t see them again for a while. Then again many of the others who were couples probably wouldn’t be seen for a while. He wondered if the women realized that even if caught the men wouldn’t mind so much. He hardened even more thinking of what he and Peyton could get up to.
“Aren’t you running?” Peyton asked right in front of him.
Wesley looked down and blinked. He hadn’t heard her approach. “I’m moving slow as you said I should.”
“At least let me chase you a little.” She pouted. “Make the blood get all flowing and stuff. Then when I catch you I can have you.” She leaned in and said next to his ear. “Anyway I want too.”
“Maybe I’m the one who will catch you.” Wesley countered.
“Ohh…” Peyton said. “That works for me.” She wavered then was gone leaving laughter in her wake.
He centered himself then connected with her mentally. Wesley smiled turned then started to run. Time for the hunt.
