Indecent
It must have been two years ago when I watched PBSs Great Performances of Indecent and my life changed forever. After the first viewing I immediately watched it again and every night thereafter for over a month. My fiancé quietly wanted to kill me as she lovingly let me indulge in this masterpiece to my hearts desire, until we both could recite almost every scene by memory. I have never seen something so perfect, so rich, and so fulfilling as this play. Which is probably why she gave me my...

Pennance
After reading The Goodmans and After Mrs. Hamilton I had to pick up Pennance. This is Ashtons first published book and a bit darker than the rest, though arguably less controversial than After Mrs. Hamilton, and fits into its own unique genre. Not quite a thriller, romance, or mystery though there are elements of all three. I very much enjoyed it.
Heres the premise-
Lucy is left with paranoia, trauma, and memories after her partner, Jake, dies in a car accident. She struggles to make it...

The Price of Salt
A few years ago when Carol, the film counterpart of this book, debuted I rushed to my independent theater (as I do for most movies featuring lesbian characters) and took my mother with me because she wanted to see it and my girlfriend had no interest. The Whole Lesbian Sex Book: A Passionate Guide for All of Us
I know this isnt a work of fiction, but I had been planning to integrate some nonfiction to the blog in the new year and decided to start early. It is still a work of text that relates to lesbianism so I dont think Im outside any boundaries, though I dont think I have set any. I opted to listen to this work via audible, but I would suggest reading it instead. Besides the narrator sounding a bit robotic, which took some getting used to, theres illustrations and a lot of references to future...

Hoosier Daddy
After diving into quite a few Ann McMan books this year (Galileo, Jericho, Aftermath, Backcast), I was curious about the novel she penned with her wife, fellow author, and publisher, Salem West. Creating a literary love child with a person close to you sounds like a dream come true. The result here is nine and a half hours of humor, romance, and a deep dive into small town economics.
Heres the premise-
Jill (Friday) Fryman is a line supervisor at a truck manufacturing plant which has...
