30 Greater Philadelphia restaurants that closed during Covid-19
Once I leave self-imposed COVID exile, I will return to a Philadelphia restaurant scene that looks very different from the one I departed. I'll not know what still exists, to advise tourists.

How ‘Rainy Day in New York’ Became the Movie That Finally Got Hollywood to Cancel Woody Allen
Do I have much desire to see Rainy Day in New York? Not really. And, I normally like Woody Allen, warts and all. It just doesn’t seem interesting. But after decades of sexual abuse allegations against him made by daughter Dylan Farrow that have sparked intense debate in peaks and valleys about whether the accusations …

Prue Leith explains what Americans “can’t understand” about the Great British Baking Show
I can’t explain what I love about the Great British Bake-Off (or the Great British Baking Show) except that it is meditative and, well, kind. It’s so damn kind. “They can’t understand that Bake Off, or The Baking Show, has no prize apart from winning.” It has a cake stand, a tiny, ordinary cake stand, …

Does Trump Really Want to Go to War With Philadelphia?
I would caution any outsider who feels they can drive into Philadelphia and have their way to reconsider. Philly will beat the shit out of you. #MyKindaTown This is the city whose mob bosses laugh when they get arrested; where you can get a tattoo of Benjamin Franklin eating a cheesesteak and flipping somebody off; …

Many Americans Plan To Move, Now That They Can Work From Anywhere : Coronavirus Updates : NPR
I will be happy to jump on the #telemedicine bus as soon as #optometry moves in that direction. An astonishing 14 million to 23 million Americans intend to relocate to a different city or region as a result of telework, according to a new study released by Upwork, a freelancing platform. The survey was conducted …

Exorcism: Increasingly frequent, including after US protests
Religion always works its way into uncertain #cultural and #political moments. Asking a higher power to control things we feel are out of control is a mainstay of western humanity. Cordileone said the exorcism prayers in Latin, remarking that “Latin tends to be more effective against the devil because he doesn’t like the language of …

The worst 5 long-haul economy-class cabins in the sky today
It surprises me not a whit that #UnitedAirlines falls just beneath Royal Air Maroc as the second worst long-haul carrier. My experience on a trip to Tokyo was cramped and the food was inedible; compared to #ANA it's an embarrassment.
