Red Wizard of Atlantis

Just finished MY final edit on Red Wizard of Atlantis releasing on June 22nd! Now it goes to my pro copyeditor to polish and shine.

In case you're wondering, this new novel is based on the Worlds of Atlantis series and it is filled with origin story mythology and legend. Highlighted in this book are the Ancient City of Atlantis, the Isles of Gades, Hellas (pre-Greece) and a number of locales from folklore.

The story begins with the origin myth of Anesidora in Hellas and her wicked betrayal. Next, enters the rite of passage journey of the Red Wizard Qel and his friend Havacian from Atlantis. They are on a journey of 'Discovery' that takes them to the land of the elves in Avalon. There, they are one of the firsts to suffer the results of Anesidora deception that will touch nearly every part of the world they live in.

Finally, enters Senjit, the Golden Dragon of lore. Known as Ladon in Hellas, Huanglong by the Huaxia, Usum by the Kur-gal, the Earth Monster by the Olmec and so many more, he must face one of the greatest trials in a changing world.

Who will prevail? Who will survive? Follow me to find out more! Red Wizard of Atlantis

Ending a story

Sometimes when I write, I come up with ideas about new characters and plots that would work great later in the series. Often, I am eager to introduce them in earlier books as a hint or early introduction and them flesh them out in detail down the line.

But what if they affect a novels ending? I have re-written the ending to Red Wizard of Atlantis a few times now as I struggle with this notion. I can end it with a climactic event that finishes the story cleanly, or add in another subplot and character that alters the ending and portends something to follow later. Kind of a cliffhanger, I suppose.

What do you think?

Editing latest Novel

So I've been editing my latest novel for what seems like half my life already. In truth, its only been a couple of weeks and I'm just a few chapters away from completing it, but the process is grueling. At least to me. Of course, it would probably be a lot less tedious if I was capable of spelling and recognizing grammar issues better than a six-year-old.
Perhaps if I wasn't trying to be frugal I could spend the $1k-$2k it would cost for a professional edit, except that my last experience with WritersDigest has shaken my confidence in "Professionals". On the other hand, Grammarly has been helpful, if glitchy, and has at the very least exposed most of my masterful blunders. I would love recommendations if there is better software, add-ons or a reliable service out there.
As far as the content of my novels, I write the way I write and enjoy doing it with a passion. If someone doesn't like my words and criticises me for it, I guess that's fair. Everyone has different likes and dislikes. That's what makes us different and I am never embarrassed by it. I am embarrassed, however, when my novel is criticised because poor spelling and grammatical mistakes have slipped through. I suppose you can find them in almost any novel, but they should be scarce enough not to be noticed.
In any case, my search goes on for the perfect editor, real or virtual, and hope that any of you that read one of my novels will just smile and read on if you come across the occasional blip!

Nazca Lines

Apparently, there are Nazca lines under Nazca lines going back possibly thousands of years. Only recently discovered, this find could re-write the history of civilization in that part of the world.

Reviews

It seems so difficult to get people to leave reviews even when they read and like your book. Then there are the tough ones that do leave reviews but don't understand the genre!
Good, constructive reviews help writers become better writers, even if they aren't always 5 stars. A review should never be written just to tear a writer down. What's the point of that?
I applaud the people who point out ways to improve and what they liked with a little honest detail that proves they actually read what I spent so much effort writing for their pleasure!

Editing

I'm working on the 'final' edit of my next novel in the World of Atlantis series and I have to admit that I find it a far less enjoyable process than when I'm just writing creatively. Does anyone else find editing so grueling?

Hellloooo

Starting a new blog related to my first two books - Saving Eridu and The Fallen.

I have no idea if this message will reach anyone or just echo through the canyons of social media. If there are anyones out there, I would love your advice on how I might successfully market and promote my ebooks through this electronic jungle!

At the same time, it would be great to get to know a bunch of you and learn about your inspiring projects.

I look forward to chatting further, or at the very least, putting music to the chirp of crickets!
