God Can Use Anything

We each have had things in our lives that we wish God would just take away. Sometimes it’s a battle we are facing, or sometimes it’s just something pesky we are dealing with.

However, there are also times when God will use these grievances for something amazing. I have two examples that I read about in recent months that I wanted to share.

Interestingly, I read these stories in two different books. But when I gathered them together for this post, I realized they were both originally shared...

Be Still

Recently I kept coming across the Bible verse Psalm 46:10 which says, “Be still and know that I am God.” I realize this is a popular verse, so it might not seem out of the ordinary to stumble across it. However, in this case, I had the feeling God was trying to give me a nudge.

There are two other Bible passages with the words “Be Still” that come to mind.

The first is from the time when the Israelites were fleeing Egypt, and Pharaoh’s army was chasing them down. The Israelites panicked an...

July’s Blessings and Reminders

Here we are, once again, reflecting on our month and what we have learned. You might wonder why this is important. Reflecting on our days and moments helps us to process things we have walked through. It also helps us to grow. Too often, many of our days move quickly from one to the next. As time passes, we just keep going through the motions of life. But when we reflect back on our weeks or months, it helps us to see God working in our lives. We will realize that He really is there, in each mom...

Trusting God With Our Battles

In the book of Daniel chapter 2 we read about a time when Daniel was facing a battle of life and death. We all face many battles in our lifetime, and I found that this story provided some key insights that can help us in our own battles.

(You can read the whole story here.)

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had a dream that disturbed him. He sought help from magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers, as he wanted someone to interpret the dream for him. But there was one catch. He didn’...

Hope in the Lord

A couple of weeks ago I was reading in Lamentations 3. Several verses in this chapter brought me encouragement.

Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him! The LORD is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the ...

Trust

There’s a reason why I haven’t chosen words like “trust” and “surrender” to be my one word for the year. I’m afraid if I pick a word like that, then a trial will come my way to help me grow in that area. Have you heard the saying – Be careful what you pray for? It’s been said that if you pray for more patience, for example, that will bring situations into your life to help you become more patient. God won’t just snap His fingers and turn you into a patient person.

I admire my blogger friend, ...

June’s Blessings and Reminders

I can’t decide if June sped by or crawled by. 🤔 Either way, here are some reminders that came my way…

Every Day is a Gift – One thing I learned in June is that everything can change in an instant. We shouldn’t take one day for granted. Every day really is a gift.

Habits and Routines – I learned something about good habits and routines. Habits and routines that are well established in our lives, as well as habits and routines from which we have seen progress – those habits and routines have ...

The Power of Prayer

There are times in life when we hit some really difficult challenges. We feel overwhelmed and helpless. But no matter what we are facing, we always have prayer. And I believe prayer is our strongest weapon. The Almighty God of the Universe hears every word we pray. And He is bigger than any mountain we face.

Jesus urged us to keep praying and never give up (see Luke 18:1-8). So that alone should encourage us to keep praying. It helps us to know that God really is listening.

And when we hav...

Hold Fast

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).” – Hebrews 10:23 KJV

The book of Hebrews was written to the early church. As you can imagine, they suffered through much discord for their belief in Jesus. Some were even tempted to turn away from their faith. The author of Hebrews encourages these Christians to “hold fast” to their faith.

According to the Cambridge dictionary hold fast means “to firmly remain in the same position or keep ...

There is Power in the Name of Jesus

Friends, I would like to start today’s post by requesting that you please, please say a prayer for someone near and dear to my heart. Thank you! It means so much to us. God knows the details. And I believe He hears our prayers and He is with us.

Also, tomorrow is Father’s Day in the USA. So I wish all the men out there a Happy Father’s Day. And a special wish to my own father. He is a strong person, who has been through a lot. But he doesn’t let it bring him down. He has taught me so much thr...
