I did it! With hours to spare.
Can't wait to see the notes.

Beta Reading Service Available
So you’ve written a book. What’s next? You need to find a reliable reader who can go through your story and find what’s working and what isn’t. Finding a good beta reader, who is honest, yet understanding, can be difficult and frustrating. I can help.
I have worked as an Editorial Intern for a small Independent publisher performing manuscript evaluations. I am currently doing the same for my own publisher, Black Rose Writing. I have seen novels that astounding and others that were not.
Beta reading is finding the faults so they can be fixed before your story is sent to a publisher or agent. As an author of five novels, I know what goes into writing a novel. I also know that family, although well tending, generally will hold back their real thoughts to spare your feelings. And yes, I have had other authors promise to go through my story, but never do because it takes too much time from their own creative process. For more of my process and what I look for, please visit:

For Heaven's Sake
Good morning,
My YA Fantasy, For Heaven's Sake has been released!
Acting out because of his grief at the loss of his grandfather had sent Adam to Juvenile boot camp. Protecting the inmates from the brutal guards taught him leadership, loyalty, and friendship. Adam and his friends escape boot camp, but find themselves transported to Heaven, which they find under siege. They must learn the skills of a warrior before they enter the portal that will take them to the alien stronghold. There, they must steal back the only weapon that stands a chance of stopping the invasion; the Staff of Moses. If they fail, Heaven will fall and leave the way open for an invasion of earth and the eradication of mankind.

New Book soon to be launched
I tried my hand at YA Fantasy, a big change from my thrillers, but I had a blast writing it. I'm currently in the process of negotiating printing costs and an awesome cover design.
The book is titled FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE and finds four troubled teens transported to Heaven, which is under siege by an alien race from a parallel Heaven. With God not home, the boys must learn the way of the warrior and infiltrate the enemy's stronghold to steal back the only weapon that stands a chance of defeating the aliens; the Staff of Moses.
Stay tuned.

Best Thriller Review of Mad Dog
Best Thriller Review
Over the moon at being compared to a legend!
The Bottom Line: An epic new take on serial killer fiction that is reminiscent of Stephen King’s best work.
Set two decades before helicopter parenting went mainstream, 14-year-old Daniel Dixon plays from dawn until dusk in a Canadian mining town. Then, someone starts slaughtering the town’s pet cats and birds. Daniel turns amateur sleuth and attempts to recruit his friends to help find the killer.
With the link between animal abuse and human serial killers long established, author David Wickenden has stumbled upon a solid gold premise and, thankfully, fulfilled its promise. As Stephen King did in Stand by Me (aka "The Body"), Wickenden writes of a bygone world where children roamed freely with their friends, learning both independence and about the terrors that lie in the shadows. But in Daniel’s case, those terrors have been pushed into the light of day by something abominable. The gruesome sight of a tortured cat on public display is a bolt out of the blue that thrusts Daniel and his friends into a heightened sense of awareness about evil walking among them.
In a telling scene that foreshadows the danger yet to come, Daniel’s firefighter father cuts his hair in their backyard. Hoping to raise a second-generation firefighter, he can’t help but push an allegory about why it’s important for people to call the fire department instead of trying to put out fires by themselves. He makes Daniel promise to call the police instead of pursuing the killer on his own. “Otherwise, you end up being a victim and then we have to rescue you.” From that point forward, we know that Daniel, his friends and even his dog Patches are in mortal danger. Thanks to Wickenden’s well-crafted plot, readers are in for a hugely satisfying payoff.
