Minato Mirai
So I decided I deserved a spot of lunch in Mintao Mitai today. I daresay anyone else would have queried this sentiment but by Crom I quaffed me some good ale.
But…I think Aka-Renga Soko is the wrong place to go if you want decent Japanese food. If you are here on a holiday and fed up with Japanese food, Aka Renga and World Porters will have something for all tastes. The sushi I had though in World Porters wasn’t bad but was scarily over-priced. At that price, better to hit the sushi place in More’s, Yokohama. Or just go to your local supermarket.
Did find a nifty beer shack though afterwards. World Beer Museum down below Landmark Tower. Excellent beer! And you can then further empty your wallet buying unusual bottled beer from around the world. Yey!

We have a winner!
By the Spirits, we have a winner to the competition. “Hobgoblin” wins the prize of a copy of Ragnekai Winds and a second book I really enjoyed last year. Congratulations!
Just Googled the word “hobgoblin” and discovered you can buy Hobgoblin crisps! My life is now complete!

届いた!
たくさん本を届きました!これから日本にいる友達に送れます。よろしくお願いします!
Competition still running (please check previous blog post). Does anybody read this blog?! Perhaps I need to carry out some crazy publicity stunt… nah, would definitely turn out to be one of those instances of “Seemed like a good idea at the time.”.

Competition Time!
Well, gosh darn it, the flu knocked me out for a week. My younger son copped it too so things were rough. And I followed the flu with sinusitis. Bugger! And it’s so damn cold here right now. Baste my steaming puddings, what is a struggling author to do!?
Ha ha, how about a wee competition? This is actually a test to see if anyone actually reads my blog. Ha ha once again.
Okay, here goes. Quiz question: in the Prologue of Ragnekai Winds, there are six characters present. Who are they? Send me a mail at jordell75@hotmail.com with the answer (ie. six names), plus your address and I will order you a copy of Ragnekai Winds from Amazon plus (!) a book I read last year and really enjoyed.
Apologies but there can only be one recipient of the prize as I need money for beer.
Hint: you can read the Prologue on my web-site http://www.buckmasterbooks.com
…so the answer is there for all to see.

Winds are gently blowing
The support I have received from friends and family has been incredible. Thank you everyone! Ragnekai Winds is now available on Amazons .com & .uk, as well as Kindle. Quite a few people have kindly purchased a copy and I’m hoping that sales continue.
One thing I do feel quite strongly now is the spartan nature of my Amazon author page: only one book! I shall press on with book two of The Old Wounds trilogy next week, with the aim of getting it out this autumn and give Ragnekai Winds a bit of company.

Hast thou seeneth “The Witch”?
The skies were cloudy and grim this morning, so I figured it was a good day to watch “The Witch”. A good film but not the one I was expecting. I thought it would be more of a spook’n’jump-type horror, but it was more an atmospheric plunge into historical tales of witchcraft. The entire look of the film was fantastically grimy and bleak. I rather feel sorry for the younger child actors, especially having to work with Black Phillip!
Interesting nugget from Wiki: “In order to give the film an authentic look, Eggers shot only “with natural light and indoors, the only lighting was candles”.” No wonder it looked and felt so real.
And worth listening to Robert Eggers’ brief commentary over the trailer on iMDB.
I can’t help now remembering the immortal line of another film: “She turned me into a newt…but I got better.”
