2015
I haven't done my New Year's resolutions yet. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to seriously focus on how I can make ME a better me in the upcoming year.
Lose weight? Not a priority, although I have ten pounds I wouldn't miss.
Exercise? No time, between Starbucks, editing and writing.
Learn another language? Not unless I can do it in my sleep.
Sleep? Definitely need to work on that, but then when would I get everything else done?
Obviously my schedule is a little out of balance. *Om* But that said, I am incredibly grateful to be living a life filled to bursting with doing what I love, with people I love. For today, that's enough!

Thanksgiving
After a self-challenge on what this holiday means to me, which segued into a list, which I love to make, I narrowed things down to ten. Keep in mind, please, that I'm no Dave Letterman.
Intro imaginary drum roll.
Top Ten list of things that I, Traci Hall, am THANKFUL for
1.Family - duh, right? Except that I have family that it wouldn't break my heart if they didn't come for dinner. Maybe drinks. After I've had some, anyway.
2.My kids. They are family, but they are MORE than that. I'm crazy about them.
3.My partner in crime - not just a boyfriend, which sounds juvenile and I'm over forty for God's sake, but encompasses best friend, snuggle buddy, dream maker. He is simply...wonderful.
4.Friends. Over the last two years I have realized the value of true friendship. Sometimes really great friends arrive when you need them most, say, after people you thought you'd trust forever kind of screwed you over. Friendship does not require perfection, but hey, loyalty is a good place to start. It is MY job to see the difference.
5.I am so running out of steam.
6.Pets. Love my dogs, and I can't wait to make them semi-famous by putting them on the cover of a book.
7.The ability to tell stories, and share them.
8.Having my own business, in addition to writing-neither one of these things is 'safe', though I thought that was what I wanted. Being my own boss makes me happy.
9.The ocean! How could I have let that go so far down to the end?
And the tenth thing that I am grateful for?
10. Readers. I am one, and I appreciate the time it takes to begin a novel - to commit to a few hours, just you and your book.
Can you give me YOUR top ten list? Share here, if you want!

And now for my next trick...
Writer? Or magician?
I can't juggle, or make a rabbit appear from a black top hat.
My skill set lies in pulling ideas from my head and setting them to cyber paper. Somehow,I take these ideas and create a story. And characters. Things that amuse me, because if I don't care about it, how will anyone else?
There comes, for me, a certain point in the story where you wonder if the magic is there. That special ingredient that will make the reader laugh, or cry, and keep on turning the pages.
I have been doing this for a while now, long enough to understand that if the words aren't coming, it is because I am not having a good time - which means that the reader is probably going to fall asleep, or the magician will get booed off the stage. This is my cue to look at what I've written, and fix the problem. It could be something as simple as I want my character to wear a black cape and gloves, but for the magic to happen, they should be wearing a purple velvet gown with faux diamonds. Or it could signify a bigger problem, like me wanting to dress these people for the carnival when they are going back packing in the mountains. Who wears velvet with hiking boots??
One of my favorite things about writing is this:I just completed a medieval romance, the second in the Queen's Guard series. Now I get to play with DD Valentine, my middle grade mystery before returning to my other love, Mile Post 42 and the character companions for my zombyre stories.
Talk about magical!
Have a great day,
Traci

Pippa
I have promised my publishers that I will be a better blogger :) It's not that I don't like blogging, it's just that I'm sure I must be boring readers to tears. I don't have a cool skill to write about, or an usual lifestyle that lends it self to entertainment.
That said, I've decided to tell you all about my dog, Pippa. Now she's funny, and if she could talk, we'd all be in trouble. You see, she's a toy pom who borders on interbred. She has hip problems, and a love monkey. She isn't a barker, in fact somewhere along the line she decided that pretend barking was better - but then it leads to coughing, and a fake yak.
It's a good thing she's pretty, lol. She really is a great dog despite having less than the normal amount of doggy brain cells, or maybe it's because of that? I don't know, and the breeder has since gone out of business and we don't really know how to ask anyone else for another pom that is borderline 'special'.
Anyway, her view of the world is unique. She's pampered, spoiled, and will do anything for an egg mcmuffin. Now that I've introduced her, don't be surprised if she makes some guest appearances on the blog. She's a bit of a celebrity, having had her photo taken with Joan Jett, and nap times are not to be trifled with, so I will get her opinion when I can, but somedays she just might be unavailable, lol
