Book Review: Hollow City, by Ransom Riggs
Hollow City by Random Riggs Janary 14, 2014 Review rating 4/5
Back to the peculiarverse… I loved the first book in this series. It was one of those rare occasions where a book is so well written and plotted the pages fly by on their own, where I feel like spending every spare minute I have reading simply because I can’t stop wondering what happens next.
It took me a couple of years to grab its sequel, even when I bought it right after I was done with the first book. Call it series fati...

Book Review: The Firebird, by Nerine Dorman
The Firebird by Nerine Dorman February 27, 2018 Review rating 4.5/5
Full disclosure: Nerine Dorman is my editor. This is the first work of hers I read, and I read it out of my own volition. I was in no way involved in the writing or editing of this novella.
A different kind of fantasyFantasy can come in many forms. The best-known kind of fantasy involves a princess aptly locked up in a tower, a dragon, and a prince in shining armor rushing to save her. It’s European fantasy alright, a...

Book Review: Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda, by Becky Albertalli
Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli March 25, 2015 Review rating 5/5
I want a copy of that agenda. Seriously. This last week has been quite the trip, and the first time in a long while where every waking moment I spent not reading I spent it thinking about reading. For you see, Becky Albertalli made me fall in love with her novel, her characters, and her setting.
I expected I would like this book. I’m a sucker for YA fiction, although I hadn’t read any non-fantasy YA b...

Book review: IT, by Stephen King
IT by Stephen King September 15, 1986 Review rating 5/5
It feels like coming home again… I first read this book as a teenager, back when I was fifteen years old. Back then, I felt it was a masterpiece of horror written by an extremely talented author who managed to not just keep the narrative tension consistent throughout the whole book, but also who managed to genuinely scare you. It was the first time I felt genuinely scared reading a book, as not even other King books had managed to...

Book review: The Mark of Athena, by Rick Riordan
The Mark of Athena The Heroes of Olympus, #3 by Rick Riordan October 2, 2012 Review rating 4/5
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this series. I’ll start by making one thing clear: I loved the original Percy Jackson series, Percy Jackson & the Olympians. I found those books to be creative, inherently funny (as Percy couldn’t keep himself from getting about every single person around him to hate him,) and very light reads.
And it’s not like the books in The Heroes of Olympus...

Book review: All Systems Red, by Martha Wells
All Systems Red The Murderbot Diaries #1 by Martha Wells May 2, 2017 Review rating 4/5
I’m in love with Murderbot. And for that alone I can’t recommend this novel enough.
I’ve read several of Martha Wells books before. I ran into The Books of the Raksura while browsing Amazon for some fantasy and the illustration (it’s always the illustration) caught my eye and ended up reading most of the series (I believe I never read the last book,) not just for the storyline (which was quite good...

December update and new content…
Hello everyone!
First, I’ve added a deleted scene from Salem’s Witches to the Neitherlands Archives. A second deleted scene should be coming soon.
It’s been a bit of an interesting month since release. Just last week I changed the cover for Salem’s Witches for a new one that more accurately represents the novel. I’ve also been busy working on Neitherlands#2 and on several tales.
As for new releases, I expect I’ll have the first Tale of the Neitherlands out during late January or early Februar...

A Beginning…
So it begins.
After more than two years of work, and having had the story in my head for nearly a decade and a half, Salem’s Witches is finally out. I’m not lying when I say this is the single project I have worked for the hardest in my life, considering one could count the amount of hours in it invested in hundreds.
Either way, I’m happy. And scared. And also kind of hungry. But mostly happy. As of today, characters and situations that have lived only in my head for far too long venture out...
