Reflections
To suspend oneself in silence.
To contemplate what’s real.
To ignore what has happened.
To pray for things to heal.
When life moves on regardless
Leaving you detached and alone.
What is there left for you to cling to,
Other than the past that you have known.
Some things in life are irreparable
But not a heart that’s on its own.
If love was cruel and is now ended.
That heart is as hard as stone.
To leave behind what cannot be mended.
To leave what you can no longer feel.
To accept what is finished and over.
To acknowledge that life’s an ordeal.

Beyond What's Old
Beyond What’s Old
The crows fly low on a day such as this,
As the cold eats the air then blows it out as a mist.
Branches are naked their leaves now gone,
Leaving birds all huddled in a whimpering throng.
The stream tumbles over its icy bed
As autumn lays finished now burying its dead.
Winter strikes hard as its gavel strikes
And its wind blows through you at your bones to bite!
Short cold days with longer colder nights,
Inside we sit with the fires alight.
Roasting chestnuts with a glass of wine.
For all its faults winter can be a splendid time.
Spring, then summer now autumn fades
As the chill of winter invades our days
Snow-covered pastures, a scene to behold
New life to breathe beyond what’s old.

When Young
When Young
I had played with love when not prepared
But luck was mine and I was spared.
Until a time when love did reach
Beyond the walls and my heart was breached.
For if you have loved as I have done
Then many hearts you may have won,
But if you’ve been loved as I have been
Then, true love, you will have seen.

I Was
I am as strange as the rain in summer.
I am the bellow of the wind at night.
I am the river that floods the meadows.
I am the dreams that died of fright.
I am nothing of matter or substance.
I am the wisp of a thought you once had.
I am the light you see from your window.
I am all that’s good and what’s bad.
I am not the belief some hold dearly
I am not a person to wear his heart on his sleeve.
I am the one you gave your trust to.
I am watching as you leave.
I am hearing your voice as it echoes.
I am the one that hears your tone.
I was the one who was patiently waiting.
I was the love you once held that's now flown.

An Ever-Changing Line—Or—Nuances Of The English Language
You've got to keep going or you’ll stop and standstill.
You've got to keep going while you still have the will.
If you stop going then the will’s going leave
And if you leave the will behind you’ll nothing in which to believe.
Sometimes belief makes you cry, but it’s good to clean the ducts.
Ducts are not ducks neither are they viaducts.
Viaducts can be bridges carrying a road above the ground,
Whereas an aqueduct carries water and makes a strange bubbling sound.
Sound travels quickly but not as fast as light.
Light can be heavy depending on your night.
Nights are dark but are not necessarily black,
Unless of course, you sleep with your head in a sack.
The sack can cost you money if you’ve nowhere else to go.
To go somewhere can be accomplished either quickly or slow
Slow of mind can mean you take your time to work out what’s right
Right doesn’t always come out on top when it’s beaten in a fight.
Fights aren’t clever, you often bruise your hands.
Hands that do dishes should avoid scrubbing pans.
Pans and pots are receptacles in which one cooks.
And cooks can be useful unlike crooks who are just crooks…. Boom Boom

Is To Wish To Be Wrong?
To not live alone and be apart
To welcome love and share a heart
To take a blow without complaint
To offer peace without constraint.
To be pure when morals scream
To only see the beauty in all you dream
To show compassion to those in need
To be content with no thought of greed.
To wish for nothing and ask for less
To live a life without duress
To offer silence in a raging storm
To be yourself and not conform.
To accept the pitfalls along your path
To smile and always be willing to laugh
To see the good where others see bad
To be happy and never be sad.
To be complete with love to spare
To live in colour where nothing’s bare
To encourage and abide
To be humble and not full of pride.
To wish that fear could always abate
To offer friendship and speak no hate
To stand straight and strong beside the weak
To give the innocent a chance to speak.
Perhaps these words come from misty-eyes
And most of the things have been tried
But sentiment or not I know this much is true
My wishes for a future are better than that I now view.
