Stories wanted for a Sword and Sorcery anthology

Do you have what it takes to follow in the footsteps of Robert E. Howard (Conan/Kull), Fritz Leiber (Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser), C.L. Moore (Jirel), Lin Carter (Thongor), or Joanna Russ (Alyx)?  We are looking for four authors to compose 10,000 – 15,000 word stories for a new Heroic Sword and Sorcery anthology to come out in early 2019.  We are looking for all new worlds, all new characters, all new adventures.

If you have a great story to tell, let us know about it. Go to Millhaven Press  f...

Millhaven Tales

We are taking pre-orders for the very first issue of “Millhaven’s Tales of Wonder” at millhavenpress.com. It is a magazine of short stories by up-and-coming authors paying tribute to the pulp magazines of the past. This issue focuses on science fiction and fantasy

While the finishing touches are being put on that issue, we are accepting story and art submissions for the second issue devoted to crime, mystery, espionage, and super-hero stories. The window for submitted closes May 1st.

Looking for Crime and Mystery Short Stories for Issue #2

The first issue of “Millhaven Tales” is nearing completion (ahead of the April 1st release), so it is time to start the planning stages of the summer issue (Millhaven’s Tales of Suspense).
We need unpublished short stories for the project!
If your story features a hard-boiled detective with quick wits and a quicker tongue, we want to read it.

If the lead of your story is a secret agent who...

First Issue of “Millhaven Tales” is available for Pre-Order

The very first issue of “Millhaven Tales”!!!
“Millhaven’s Tales of Wonder” is the first of a quarterly anthology magazine focusing on different genres as the seasons change. The Spring ’18 issue is filled with stories of a science fiction or fantasy nature. Eight intriguing stories by relatively new authors.
An interesting take on alien visitation reminiscent of a 1950’s “flying saucer” film with one of those oh, so awkward moments.
What if the afterlife isn’t so different from this one?
Is a...

I May Have Forgotten What Free Time Is…

So, it turns out that writing a novel (second in the Books of the Broken series) and starting a genre-based quarterly print magazine consumes a little bit of time.  Okay, maybe more than a little bit of time.  Okay, it takes up all my free time…and a little more time that isn’t what one would consider “free time”.  I mean, do you really need to spend all that time on sleeping?

Well, “Millhaven’s Tales of Wonder” is complete, and very nearly printed (just awaiting a proof to make sure it doesn...

Review: New World by Steven W. White

“Across the sea lies a newly discovered continent, a world whose forests and beasts are unknown to the recorded memory of elves, dwarves, or men.

In this land called Mira, the brutal sacking of a young colony links the fates of two opposite characters: a twelve-year-old printer’s son named Simon Jones and his long-lost uncle Tiberius Bogg, one of Mira’s legendary mountain men.

Simon is small, but smart; scared but determined. Bogg, with his raccoon-skin cap and smart-talking grammar abuse, is...
