The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) Extended to August 29, 2020
On May 15, 2020, the Federal Government announced the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) would be extended to August 29, 2020, to continue supporting businesses across Canada as they weather the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This extends the CEWS for an additional 12 weeks past its initial June 6, 2020 deadline. Ontario Expands List of Businesses Permitted to Reopen May 15, 2020
On May 14, 2020, as part of the first stage of Ontario’s framework to reopen the economy, the Ontario Government announced more retailers, seasonal businesses and recreational services will be permitted to open or expand their services.

Golf courses can open, but clubhouses will only be open for washrooms and restaurants will only be open for take-out.

Ontario Extends Declaration of Emergency and Passes the COVID-19 Response and Reforms to Modernize Ontario Act, 2020 May 13, 2020
On May 12, 2020 the Ontario Government announced it had extended the Declaration of Emergency and all of its emergency measures under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (the “EMCP”) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and give the province more time to safely reopen businesses, services, and amenities. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced additional measures will be introduced to help more businesses keep their workers on the payroll as Canada continues to weather the COVID-19 pandemic.
