Here We Go!

For the longest time, I have been wanting to start a weekly blog regime where I can interact more with my readers and those who take time out to have a look at my writings. In between these blogs, I’ll make sure I incorporate little snippets of writing and other things such as a short story or extracts from my next novel, if and when that begins!

Now, I realize that my life isn’t as aesthetic that I need a constant camera that can look upon my shoulders and record everything that happens to me, but a weekly blog should do the job of making myself visible enough to my readers. My debut novel Sojourn, A Woman In Exile was well received at the initial stage but now sales have stopped, limiting to a few copies every month. I know there are a number of factors contributing to the descent of my literary creation, one of them being the lack of a good marketing strategy, which in fact was non-existent in my situation. Also, I wish to restructure the plot, perhaps add to it or delete some of it. I believe that writing is an ongoing process and there is always much scope for changes, even after publication.

Another thing that I might want to talk about in my blogs, is the prospect of getting published on Amazon. I do have this seed of thought that wants me to change from traditional publishing to Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (K.D.P.), which I feel is more rewarding and shall be more in my control. That, however, is a story for another blog. For today, let me start with a beginning because I refuse to get pulled down to the bottom, and each time I will be pulled down, I trust the universe in pushing me back up, if only to help me stay afloat. Learning to swim is my job and that will be learnt after a number of near death experiences in the water.

Till then,

Good Morning and have a productive day ahead!

Let’s Talk About Love!

[image error]Photo by Artem Bali on Pexels.com

For every step I walked towards you,

For every snippet of happiness you promised,

I encountered misery all the way.

Neither the moon nor it’s light could replace you,

Because every time you smiled at me,

I let darkness penetrate my soul.

I didn’t really have a reason to live,

But, for the sparkle of your eyes each time,

I breathed in some more.

You don’t know because you don’t know,

For little moments spent with you,

I wasted away my nights, burning like a candle.

They say love is fool’s game,

I am proof of it,

Because each time you said you loved me,

I let go of my inner voice wondering how lucky I was.

Words that Paint #38

When poetry flows naturally, no amount of limitations can stop you from penning it down. It feels so good, after a long, long time.

Happy Women’s Day!

How can we celebrate a concept as hideous and fake as Women’s Day?

Spending ourselves on shopping and in parlours, all in the name of pampering ourselves? How are we ever going to achieve equality if we keep satisfying ourselves with one single day to our credit? What about the other 364 days when we run low on our self esteem and confidence, when we stagger at every step that we take and find faults with our self for being a burden to our selves, friends, families and perhaps to society as a whole. Why should we celebrate this facade called Women’s Day when we can’t celebrate our opinions, our freedom, our choices and perhaps, our existence.

Honestly, I feel pathetic everytime someone wishes me a chirpy “Happy Women’s Day”. It’s as if society is offering me a bait to keep quiet and suffer silently for the rest of the year. It’s as if I’m a child who’s being appeased by a menial toy, to keep their mouths shut for the time being. It’s as if my force is being mellowed down to a party just for the sake of celebrating it, almost like an unwanted birthday party.

First ensure happiness as a state of mind for each and every woman out there, at least for women around you, and then perhaps you can have the nerve to wish me, “Happy Women’s Day”.

Ramblings of an Overactive Mind.

Have you been waiting for your time to begin? Have you been waiting for good things to happen to you while you compromise with the second best option and feel yourself to be stuck up in a situation that doesn’t seem very attractive.

Well, at the age of 24, turning 25 in two days, I seem to be experiencing something which is known as “Mid Life Crisis” even if it’s just a quarter of life that I have completed. Needless to say, I’m not planning to live till 100, but yeah you know what I mean.

However, the deal is that I am unable to bring myself to terms with the reality of my life. It’s as if the defensive bubble that I had created around myself all these years, popped all of a sudden and left me stranded because the decisions I once took seem wrong and there aren’t any new decisions left for me to take. Perhaps, I’m too scared to think of that reality as bad. What if this is just a phase that’ll pass through like everything else did. What if I’m over thinking, and there’s a high probability of me overthinking situations because I’ve been doing that ever since I started thinking about stuff.

Anyway, what is important is that I’m still in control of the situation, if at all there is a situation. Sorry for wasting your time but you should have guessed that this blog is nothing but a ‘Rambling of an Overactive Mind’.

Why Do You Need An Editor?

So, are you done with writing whatever you had thought of putting down on paper? Are you done with reading it twice or thrice, feeling overwhelmed at your creative talent? Are you done with cuddling it and telling it how much you love it?

If yes, then it’s time you hand over your written baby to a professional editor. Why? That’s because one will never, not even the most professional author, will ever find faults with what they write. Even if they do, they will never acknowledge those faults because for a writer, their written word is sacred. But your reader is a third person, who has never heard of you, and doesn’t really know about your excellent language skills. Often, one typing error, or a spelling mistake, or a misused article can affect your reputation seriously.

That’s where an editor comes into picture – as a medium between you and your readers. Your editor takes up the responsibility of making your manuscript error free, not just in terms of language, but also in terms of structure and detailing. A novel is a complex narrative with a number of events and your editor ensures that your work finishes perfectly in order with Aristotle’s unity of time, space and action.

It is for this reason that editors are often disliked by authors because they offer too many corrections, making the authors feel that they are losing their language and style. This is something that both the author and the editor must keep in mind, before trusting each other to work on that manuscript.

With Temptation Of Words, you can get your language and style matched with us, before deciding whether to avail our services. We offer to do a sample chapter for you and we proceed if and only if you are satisfied with the quality of our work.

The perfect moment ❤

Sometimes, words express what the heart cannot. This little snippet is inspired from my novel, Sojourn, A Woman In Exile
