Ricardo Zárate nació en León, Guanajuato, en 1982. Poco tiempo después de licenciarse con mención honorífica, renunció a su futuro como ingeniero para dedicarse a su gran pasión: la escritura. Luego de ocho años del cambio de rumbo, tuvo su primera oportunidad en el cine al escribir la película de misterio La niña de la mina. Además ha escrito documentales de corte histórico para Clío TV, artículos sobre cine en la versión digital de Letras Libres y ha publicado cuento en la revista Playboy. El chico sin nombre es su primera novela.
