The Beast of Aubyn Hall Excerpt - Real or not?
Excerpt:
“You know what else?” I hissed. “Real or not, David is perfect. He’s handsome, he’s smart, he’s kind, and he’s a gentleman. In fact, he’s everything you’re not.”
“Oh, really?” he said, cocking his eyebrows.
“Really,” I exclaimed, “and he's better looking. And he has more muscles. And he's great in bed!”
His lips curved into a sexy smile as he raised his arms and took off his shirt, then threw it on the floor.
I gasped, staring at his massive chest and washboard stomach that looked as if it had been cast from concrete.
“Jesus,” I breathed. “What are you doing?”
“Better looking?” he repeated, his eyes flashing.
I swallowed with difficulty, unable to move, staring at him like a deer caught in the headlights. Instead of a reply, I merely shook my head.
“More muscles?” he said, stepping towards me.
I stepped backwards, biting my lip.
“Probably not.”
I continued to move until I collided with a desk.
“Well then,” he said, so close to me that our bodies were almost touching, “the only thing left for you to find out is how I fuck.”

The Beast of Aubyn Hall Excerpt - The Beastly Part!
Excerpt:
“Welcome to Aubyn Hall,” the butler said. “Please, wait here.”
He turned to the right and disappeared down the hall as we looked at each other in disbelief.
“Oh... my... God,” Rachel whispered, looking at us wide-eyed. “This is—”
“Unbelievable!” Devlin finished instead of her.
“I'm never going back,” Vanessa added, looking around in awe.
“Look at those curtains,” Rachel said, walking up to the window and rubbing the lavish, blue fabric between her fingers. “They must be priceless.”
“So, this is the beast's lair,” I mused. “I only wonder... is it the face that is beastly or the manners?”
“Maybe it's both!”
At the sound of a deep, smooth baritone, I froze on the spot. Razor-sharp and low, the voice sent chills down my spine, and I immediately realized I just blurted out the worst possible thing at the worst possible moment. Me! In my entire life, I never said anything to anyone before thinking about it twice. Not a word, not a syllable. Never!
I looked up, only to see Rachel, Vanessa, and Devlin staring at me, wide-eyed and silent. I slowly turned around and felt the color draining from my face.
At that moment, I got an answer to my question.
It wasn't the face.
The face wasn't the beastly part.

The Beast of Aubyn Hall!
While I was writing the book The Beast of Aubyn Hall, I immediately came up with the title, even before the book was finished. Still, there was a constant concern in my mind that the readers would presume because of the title that this is a paranormal romance or maybe even a historical romance. I was thinking about changing it, but at the end I couldn't do it. My beast had to stay in the title. After all, the beastly part is what this book is all about. Or as my heroine wondered at one point (and said it out loud, which turned out to be a big mistake): Is it the face that is beastly or the manners? :-)

One chapter - one sentence!
I was just thinking... how fun it would be if you would have to choose a sentence... just one sentence... to represent the chapter of your book!
So I did it... and it was fun... but also extremely difficult! I mean... so many sentences to choose from and you have to pick just one.
So, here it is... A Drop of Paradise... deconstructed:
Chapter 1
“Can’t you just take a hint?”
Chapter 2
"May I say that you look ravishing tonight?"
Chapter 3
"You have a very dirty mind, do you know that?"
Chapter 4
"Oh, honey," he said slowly, his voice laced with threat, "you shouldn't have..."
Chapter 5
"Ill-mannered barbarian..."
Chapter 6
"Hell, I wouldn't touch you if you were the last man on earth."
Chapter 7
"If you could read my thoughts, you would run away."
Chapter 8
"What are the fucking chances?"
Chapter 9
"That woman is nothing but trouble."
Chapter 10
"The things I want to do to you," he whispered into her ear, "should be illegal."
Chapter 11
"I don't want just any woman..."
Chapter 12
"It's not as if I like you or anything."
Chapter 13
"Let it not be said that I am not a man of his word."
Chapter 14
"Don't make me come for you!"
Chapter 15
"Do you promise not to do anything stupid?"
Chapter 16
"Do what?"
Chapter 17
"You really think that you're a tough guy, don't you?"
Chapter 18
"Who else would do that?"

A Drop of Paradise

Bodice rippers and contemporary novels!
One of the aspects of A Drop of Paradise that I liked from the start was a good sense of humor. The heroine Jessica Slade is a romance author. She writes historical romance novels, or so called bodice rippers. Except purple prose they come with colorful covers, mostly with half-naked men ripping the dress of a big breasted lady. Naturally, our heroine is being teased mercilessly by the hero on the account of the genre.
I have read a lot of historicals in the past and I love them very much. That's why it was great fun to do a little parody of the genre I adore. I mean, who else can appreciate good humor more than a romance reader!
Here is an excerpt:
He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a book, then started to leaf through the pages. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see her staring at the book and trying to read the title. Suddenly, her eyes widened, and she jumped out of her chair, reaching for the book. She was about to grab it, but he was quicker, and he raised the book high in the air so she couldn’t reach it.
"Give me that,” she said through her teeth, grabbing his upper arm.
He looked at her fingers curled around his biceps before he looked at her, and she quickly pulled her hand away.
“Give me that book,” she demanded.
"Excuse me, but this is my book. I mean, you wrote it obviously, but—"
“You know what I mean,” she hissed. “Where did you get it?”
“First sit down, sugar,” he said with a small smile. “People will think we're having a lover’s quarrel.”
She looked around, only to see the other passengers observing them with interest, while Marguerite and Barbara openly stared at them. In fact, they were whispering something to each other and giggling.
She quickly sat down, biting her lip. She looked at the book, then at him again, clearly debating with herself whether to obey him.
"Marguerite gave it to me,” he said finally with a shrug. "But I have to tell you... it’s a real page-turner. I mean, the title itself... Passion’s wicked promise... obviously a keeper—”
“I'm warning you."
“Then, this David character... I mean, I can see the appeal, with his broad shoulders and bulging muscles and—"
“If you don’t stop—”
“And that scene in the barn,” he continued, looking deadly serious. “When they… you know… for the first time…”
He whistled, shaking his hand as if he just burned himself as she looked at him murderously, obviously prepared to kill him on the spot.
"You have a very dirty mind. Do you know that?" he said with a grin. "Who would have thought?"

A Drop of Paradise world is expanding!
A Drop of Paradise world is expanding. Although this is a standalone novel, the new book I am working on will be connected to it, featuring a character who is a friend of someone from A Drop of Paradise. Who knows, maybe some of our favorite characters pop up there as well!
