A habit I've made is to go on writing in a draft and change the story as I go if I feel that things need to be told differently. That way, I'm still likely to create scenes and content that I'll like while scrapping the outdated ones, then I can go off of that in the next draft of the story. It doesn't destroy the writer's block that was there before, but just goes around it and usually reroutes the story so that it can be ignored. It doesn't work for everyone, and, in the end, I'll be stubborn about not making changes for a story, so it just takes a good moment or two, or perhaps an entire day, of thinking patiently about what I'm trying to deliver in the story.(less)

It features Stanley Longpants, a mid-30s blue collar worker cursed from being raised by old-fashioned parents in the future of America. Human companionship is undesired by most except for sexual deviance; people now prefer Aioms: Artificially Intelligent Organic Machines. They can be and do whatever you wish. Stanley is stubborn but eventually gives into the norm after finding an off-grid Aiom that he can reconfigure to have free will, only for him to find himself stuck between just one of hundreds of conflicts in the world that the curtain of consumerism and self-indulgence had hidden from him.(less)
