Theology of Scripture

I believe the Bible, which consists of both the Old Testament and New Testament, is the divinely inspired and inerrant Word of God. Holy men of God were moved upon by the Holy Spirit to communicate to us God’s direct commands (2 Peter 1:19-21). Being that Scripture is the Word of God it is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and for training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last d...

I Am the Resurrection and the Life

I am the resurrection and the life (John 11:25)

The Beginning of Death

The cold hand of death has touched all of us. Many, if not all, of us have encountered death with the passing of family members or friends. Death is the inevitable outcome for all people. However, for the Christian death is viewed through the lens of hope.

Christianity is a message about life. Nevertheless, Christianity is also a message about death. It should be noted that Christianity is not about harming or killing peop...

Top Ten Books of 2018

I’m not exactly sure where 2018 has gone. The year ended faster than a Kardashian relationship.

I set out to read fifty books in 2018 and completed about forty-five books. Technically, I reached my goal but didn’t finish several large books that I started. Eh, there’s always next year.

Many of the books that I read weren’t written in 2018, it’s just that I read them this year. There were several standouts and a few duds. My reading list for next year is already growing, along with several r...

I Am the Good Shepherd

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me (John 11:11-14)

The History of Shepherds

Our study of Jesus as the Good Shepherd doesn’t begin in John’s Gospel, rather it b...

Praise and Thanksgiving– “Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name” (Psalm 100:4)!

I Am the Door

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:9-10).

Blind Men and Blind Shepherds

In John chapter nine Jesus heals a man born blind (Jn. 9:1-41). Jesus displays that He is the Light of the world by giving sight to the blind man (Jn. 9:5). The miracle is rich with analogy, being that this man born in darkness is healed and given...
