In Which I Give Fair Warning...

SILVER ON THE ROAD will hit the shelves in 21 days (give or take 24 hours). Not-quite-nonstop squee and promotion will begin NOW. (or, you can go directly to the buy-links and skip all this)
no title
I aim to land somewhere in the safe zone between that one commercial you saw once and liked but can't remember what it was about, and the OHFORFUCKSSAKEENOUGHALREADY brainwashing of Jared's Galleria.   ;-)

TWO DAYS LEFT!

Two days left in this storybundle offer!

One of our favorite curators, Kevin J. Anderson, has put together a new bundle of 11 epic disaster novels that cover the gamut of What Can Go Wrong. Think of it as 50 Shades of Doom. But these aren't just tales of disaster...but tales of heroism, persistence, ingenuity, and survival. These are truly the best things to read while you're huddled underground in your bomb shelter (or just in your living room, in the meantime).

Pay what you want for the first five - and for $20 you'll get ELEVEN books, PLUS a bonus issue of LIGHTSPEED. That comes to about a buck-fifty per read!

DRM-free, so you can read them whenever and however you want.

https://storybundle.com/disasters

(plus,-you'll be helping me buy a new, not-broken computer to write more stories on, because the money goes directly to the writers, not held for  6 months by the publisher, and my laptop had a hard drive failure last night that needs to be dealt with ASAP. Yes, I'll be that crass and talk about what's in it for me. :-)

my third GhD!

"We are thrilled to announce that because of your hard work, artistry, lack of shame, and selfless community devotion, you have been singled out for the most prestigious honor we at Gishwhes have the power to bestow on an individual: a Doctorate* of Gishology.

Simply put, this degree qualifies you as an expert in all things Gishwhes, marks you as an individual unfit for living in the mundane realm of normalcy and distinguishes you as someone of extreme and meritorious weirdness for whom the world is a playground of limitless possibility.

*This Doctorate in no way qualifies you to do or be anything other than your own incredibly weird, kind and abnosome self... which is all you need in life for happiness, success and bountiful kale harvests."

L'shana tovah....

Rosh Hashanah snuck up on me this year, here in a new city. Whoops.

The world is its usual too-shitty, chaotic place, and sometimes it feels like considering the idea of forgiveness, of a new page, a fresh start, is hopeless at best. But finding hope in the midst of hopelessness is what faith is all about.

And so, l'shana tovah to all, even if you don't observe. Happy new year. May the next 12 (lunar) months be full of joy, peace, and good-health for us all.

1. FOXGLOVE SUMMER, Ben Aaronovitch

Once upon a time, I read a book a week. That was a) before I was writing 150,000+ words every year (not including revisions), b) and before I learned that a book is best read while not doing anything else (i.e. not also watching tv). So the goal has become two books a month, with the understanding that Work and Job and Life are reasonable reasons for not accomplishing that.

If I were to make a list of Books BOUGHT in 2015.... well, “Ah, but a (wo)man's reach should exceed her grasp, or what's a heaven for?”

14 years and 3,000 miles

I thought today would be easier, not living in NYC.

Instead, it seems more difficult; the ache of a phantom limb rather than a scabbed-over wound.

We're on the SILVER standard, here...

Did you know? RT Magazine says SILVER ON THE ROAD is "fresh and original...both stark and lovely!"

(now you know!)

full text:

Silver on the Road takes an underused setting for fantasy—the American West—and uses it to explore coming of age, the limits of power and responsibility, and the importance of mingling compassion and justice. It’s fresh and original and the language is both stark and lovely. The descriptions of the natural landscape of the West fit beautifully with descriptions of talking animals, travelling magicians and terrifying supernatural forces.  (4.5 stars)
