Lost

Completely lost without my laptop and unless I fork out some money (which I have decided to do) will lose 10 pages of my screenplay and the disc of the program Final Draft. It seems it is the motherboard. Scary stuff.
I'm trying to be constructive about this and using the time without my beloved laptop to get some serious reading done.

A Lazy Afternoon?

Getting ready for the first bookcrossing meeting for 2010 at Hamilton tomorrow. I have books to register and do the release notes for, I have eight jobs to apply for in the next few days and all I REALLY want to do is curl up with a book for the rest of the arvo. Sigh.

Kotara

Just found out this morning that I sold 12 copies of Tomaree in four hours! Very pleased with myself. I have recently had a woman in Port Macquarie tell my mother twice that she really loved my book and yesterday a woman came and told me how much she had enjoyed Tomaree and so had all the family. She then asked me for my autograph on a slip of paper with my booksigning details. The significance of it didn't sink in till later.

In Limbo

Have had to put my screenplay on hold, the ugly monster of moving has reared its head and I'm knee deep in boxes. Also feeling a bit blue but to lift my spirits I've started a Patrick Gale.

My strange life

I am now looking for a job, a house and a publisher (in no particular order). Despite these frustrations work on my screenplay is going really well. I hope to get to Sydney soon to do a bit of research - walking the streets of Cremorne Point.

It's my Mum's birthday today. Happy Birthday Mum. I now have another temp job where I get to read! Thank you Universe. Answered the phone and read nearly 100 pages of Quicksand! Way to go! My kind of job.

10 March 2009

A day behind but I finally read through the last chapters of Crossing Paths, chapters 87, 88 and 89. Tomorrow I hope to compile a lit of what needs checking for the final edit. Strictly speaking this new run through will be the 5th draft but I'm still saving it as Crossing Paths 4. Got up to 8 with Tomaree. My God, what a journey that was!

8 March 2009

Well, I met a possible someone yesterday so that should be interesting. I have a busy day ahead with a swim at Mere planned later today but in the meantime, I'm determined to do a check of the last two chapters of my draft Bookcrossing manuscript. Will then do a last read through and edit. About three weeks work, I'm hoping. Luckily after formatting it in Georgia the page count has come done to approx 660 pages, not so formidable to market as a manuscript of over 700 pages!
I've also sent Tomaree to Penguin so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they might pick it up. Being the only GI romance on the market, they may be interested. I'm hoping so as I have maxed all my credit cards and don't have the money for a fourth print run, lol.
