I adopted Bryce on the 15th of May almost seven years ago. The people at the agency were eager for him to leave.
I took him to specialists from the beginning. He was quiet, unusually organized, and radiated an intense energy that, believe i...

The Black Death didn’t just descend on my town, it slammed into the bodies of all of us like a cleaver against a slab of meat.
None of us could have expected it. At least that’s what we told ourselves.
For years, we ignored the animals dropping dead for seem...

Weekend Writing Warriors: #8Sunday
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors challenge. I’ve been away for awhile and now I’m back. I’ll still update “Castille’s Stone” every now and then but for now, as a way to jump in and get started, here’s a 8 sentence look into another world.
By the way, if you want to get in on choosing what I’ll write for the #8Sunday project you can check me out on Instagram for Writing Prompt Wednesday and make a suggestion! Shout out to Sahara_Frost for making this weeks suggestion: Babylon.

That Moment When You Get Your First Review
I received my first review of Bright City about a week ago from Guante:
A debut novel is always an exciting event, and it’s been very cool and inspiring to see DC Edwards break into the spotlight.

I listene...

Weekend Writing Warriors (20!): #8sunday
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors challenge. My hope is that over the next six months you’ll see either a nice & tidy 8-10 sentence flash fiction story or an excerpt from a piece I’m working on (like the one below).
Before you continue I want to Thank EVERYONE who has come to the site and checked out the stories. I am currently working on my novel Bright City and this has been a great opportunity to escape that world and hang out in others. Also, make sure you check out other writers at...

Writing Confessions: Bookstore Blues
I’m going to confess something.
Sometimes I don’t feel like I have any original thoughts.
[image error]I was at the bookstore yesterday. Barnes and Noble. I’m still lamenting the loss of my beloved Borders. The only thing that Barnes and Noble has going for it in my mind are the vanilla cupcakes they sell. Cupcakes that I can’t eat any more.
Anyway…
I was at the bookstore yesterday and I saw a couple of books that I was like, “damn, this is a good idea!”
Normally, when I go to the bookstore the rows and r...
