A death at a nursing home. A bodythat fell from the balcony. A hit-and-run. A man shot execution-style. Were allthese random deaths connected?
This seemed interesting with allthese deaths. At first, we get the different stories on each case. The pace andstamina were mild, but the read was quick and informative. That naggingcuriosity to how these cases tie together just kept gnawing at me and kept mereading. All these deaths were odd and suspicious and it was fascinating to seewhat turned up in each investigation. It seemed they were all murdered. Werethese random killings? Or were they somehow connected? The cases were a littlehard to follow, especially with all the various names thrown in there. Youoften forget who was who and what was what. It’s only after you read a littlebit in each chapter that you think, “Oh, yeah, it’s that particular deadperson.” And, although the chapters were short and quick, there were just toomany of them at 90 chapters total.
A faster pace and fewer deathswould’ve made this more focused and more exciting. The various deaths seemedinteresting at first, but the long investigations became too daunting. I wishwe could’ve gotten down to the real clues much sooner. But the read wasgenerally pretty good and I liked the details in the cases. Good for those thatliked to get really involved in multiple cases.
A fairly nice mystery.

Review: Who really likes to go to thedentist? With its screeching drills and spiky tools. Just terrifying! That iswhy Flossy, the great white shark, never went to one. She also didn’t have thegreatest teeth. So jaggedy and yellow. Then his mama finds the Dolphin Dentist,“the Gentle Dentist of the Sea.” Butthere was one problem: No sharks were allowed.
But, fortunately, the mamawouldn’t take no for an answer.
“Flossy is the Queen of the Seas. She will not leave until Dr. Dribble sees her.”
Still, the Dolphin Dentist didn’twant to. And can you blame him? Who wants to work on a shark’s teeth with giantjaws and crushing teeth? Perhaps a little white lie might do the trick. Butthen guilt settles in on the poor dentist.
“How could his fear of sharkscause him to be so unkind?”
Can the two set aside their fearsand realize that there really wasn’t anything to fear at all?
The illustrations with its brightand vivid colors just naturally popped and jumped out at you. Absolutely lovedit! I loved the caricature style of the mother shark. So outrageously funny! Iliked the underwater scenery, which was something right out of the LittleMermaid. My favorite part would have to be the animated expressions of the seacreatures. And it wasn’t just the illustrations that were front and center, theartist also highlighted some of the text by changing the size and addingcontrast to the pages—all elements that direct the readers’ eyes.
An excellent read!

Review: With cute and colorfulillustrations, this book is a fun collection of nursery rhymes for littletoddlers. What makes this so unique was that these rhymes were a parody oftraditional rhyming songs. For instance, instead of “Three Blind Mice,” you had“Three Kind Mice.” Some of them even had a little moral. For example, whenHumpty Dumpty has his great fall, there were some kids that rushed over to puta band-aid. Cute and funny! I also liked that it gets interactive after eachrhyme and asks the reader how the characters in the story feel when… It teacheskids empathy and to be kind.
It’s a fun way to sing along andlook at the vibrant pictures. Parents can have a great time mimicking the sheepand making funny voices to recite this lovely poetry.
A nice read!

Meet the Author:
Pam has been an early childhood music educator for over twenty-five years with a passion for singing, rhyming, reading stories, and making music with preschoolers.
When Pam noticed that some children seemed unfamiliar with traditional nursery rhymes, and that parents and teachers were avoiding them because of their outdated, dark, and inappropriate nature, she set out to modernize them. Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times® provides a memorable way to build language, musicality, and literacy through songs, stories and rhymes that nurture kindness, empathy, and gratitude. The inclusion of resources that support social and emotional learning (SEL) make it easy for parents and teachers to engage with the children they love.
The rhymes in the book can also be enjoyed as songs on the Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times album recorded by Raffi and Lindsay Munroe, as well as in videos on the Nursery Rhymes for Kinder Times® Show on YouTube. (www.linktr.ee.com/forkindertimes)

Review: Isabel was different than theother members of her family—she was adopted. Isabel always felt her parentspreferred her other siblings more than her.
“I can’t do anything right. Ialways mess up and make people upset.”
Isabel would fear that one day shewould make a big mistake and her parents wouldn’t want her anymore.
Emotions were running rampantinside her. Then she talked it out with her mother.
The book was filled with lovelyand colorful illustrations. I especially liked the comical expressions.
A nice read about adopted kidsthat often feel unwanted. It’s okay to make mistakes as your family will alwayslove you no matter what. A sweet and hopeful story about a family’s love.

The higher self, some believe it sits a few inches aboveyour mind, while others, refer to it as the third eye. It has been myexperience that it does not sit in one place but hovers around you. Your higherself is your all-knowing self. It holds the secrets of your existence in thislife and the many lives before you and the many after you. Your higher self isthe one constant that wraps around you. There is a reason we are being invitedto meditate. With mental illness on the rise, meditation anchors one down.Mindful practices connect you with your heart’s centre, the magical gateway toyour consciousness. Meditate, sit in silence, to connect to this wonder, thisbrilliance that has all the answers we seek, sitting quietly within. Startconsulting with yourself. Start connecting with your inner wisdom. Quiet yourmind long enough to hear this voice, this intelligent exchange, this insightfulchat that will finally awaken the truth you seek.
While I continued using my journal to further discover thisnew endeavour, a few days later, I discovered my boardroom of helpers, whofollow me around throughout this lifetime and assist when necessary. Imagine aboardroom of consultants looking after you, working 24/7 throughout each entirelife. That is their assignment, to follow you as you navigate life’s trials andtribulations. My boardroom of helpers or councillors consisted of four. Thisvaries for some. I continue to visualize them sitting around this oval tableand looking at me, face to face. Their eyes are on me, as are the eyes of yourvery personal team of guides. Yes, they see you naked too, and everything inbetween! It took me a while to get over this one.

Review: WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN NOW? By Mary Higgins Clark

After 40 years, we hear whathappened to the children from the first book. 40 years ago, those children werekidnapped and nearly killed. The past never leaves.
Melissa (previously “Missy” in thefirst book and now the “justice lawyer” and star of her own true crime podcast)was getting ready to marry. Melissa wanted to forget the past, but her brother,Mike, felt that the past was pain and pain was happiness. It wasn’t a choice. But Melissa insisted on “choosing” happiness and that her wedding day would bethe happiest.
Weeks later, Melissa was marriedwith a new stepdaughter and a mother that sold their childhood home. Thememories of what their kidnapper did to them was still plaguing Melissa. Thenightmare soon becomes reality when the 3-year-old stepdaughter goes missing. The past was repeating itself. What happened to Melissa may be happening toRiley. No! Not again!
If Melissa hadn’t been havingthose nightmares, then she wouldn’t have fallen into a deep sleep and Rileywouldn’t have disappeared. How could she not blame herself?
Once again, MHC manages to grabthe reader with this continuation of an old story of hers. The suspicions getreally dark in this one. To think that the father would try to get rid of hisown daughter? Then for the police to think Melissa’s abduction was toocoincidental and start suspecting her as a murderer? What was going on? Someonein the family was holding a secret. But who? How well did Melissa really knowthe man she married?
A compelling read!

Review: PARTY SUMMER by R.L. Stine

A group of teenagers working andplaying at an exclusive hotel on a private island for a Party Summer. The firstpart had the teens arriving at this dark, creepy, and dingy hotel with thembeing the only ones there. Why was that butler guy insisting that they leave? There was some talk of ghosts, but mostly the narrative described the hotel andbeach.
Eventually, the kids stumble onsome strange things: the hidden door in the wall, the creepy brother that showsup, and a gun shot sound from inside a closed room with no body found. Strangeindeed. Perhaps the place was haunted. Even though this was slower than Iwanted it to be, this had a level of mystery that kept me entertained. By theend, it becomes a race for their lives. It all gets good!
A frightening read for sure!
