Someone starts to hum a familiar tune, but not just afamiliar tune, one of my favorite from the sixties and uncharacteristically, Istart to sing along. Out loud. I mean, it’s one of my favorites. Asha and Ihave done karaoke to this countless times at Angelo’s. In an empty room. Well,if you don’t count Liam. But I can’t help myself and soon I’m into it.
The person stops humming and starts to sing with me.
My heart pounds. Clamping my lips together, I grip the CD inmy hand and peek through my lashes.
Across the table, a guy in a faded blue t-shirt and khakishorts sings as he nods his head from side to side, his thick mane of blondhair concealing his face. A few inches shorter than me, he lifts his chin andpushes the hair out of his eyes. A smile plays across his lips. “Aww, why’d youstop? You were awesome. We make a great duet.”

Rodney Strong quit a 9-5 job in 2016 to finally pursue hislife long dream of becoming a writer (he still has the very first play he wroteat age 6). He lives in Porirua, New Zealand, with his wife, two children, andtwo cats. When he's not writing he attempts to stay away from chocolate, runs(sometimes), reads, and enjoys spending time with his young children (whocontribute a lot to the running and craving for chocolate).
He always has a couple of projects on the go, but for now isfocusing on his series of cozy mysteries.
One of his cats likes to help with the process by sitting onthe laptop, while the other likes nesting on his shoulders (which was cute whenhe was a kitten, but now the cat is 11 years old, is less so).
