Marco Praga born in Milan on June 20, 1862; died on January 31, 1929) was an Italian playwright popular in his era, his plays were characterized by a witty humour on contemporary bourgeois society. His was the son of poet Emilio Praga. His two most successful plays were La vergini and La moglie ideale (1890), which reportedly contained one of Eleonora Duse great roles. He also wrote a novel La biondina and several short stories. He collaborated in the preparation of the libretto for Giacomo Puccini's Manon Lescaut. He continued to do notable works until 1915.
Since 1919 he wrote theatrical reviews on popular journal Illustrazione Italiana collected in the ten volumes of Cronache teatrali. He died by suicide in 1929.
