Can We Save the Cat?
My first podcast!
2020 was a crazy year, but I managed to complete three life goals: motherhood, becoming a bestselling author, and now I got to be on a podcast! It was an awesome experience, and I can’t wait to do it again. Here’s the link so you can skip straight to the episode, or keep reading for a little look behind the scenes.
The premise of the pod is that each person on the episode pitches an idea, and then the group votes on which pitch to develop during the episode. At the end, they decide whether to save the pitch or scratch it. Super cool process!
My pitch was for a three-movie series called “A Light in the Desert,” and they picked it!The hosts, Justin, Dani, and Bryan, were welcoming and warm. I was nervous, but within minutes it felt more like chatting with friends than recording a podcast. They all had awesome pitches, but we ended up selecting mine to workshop. I won’t spoil the details, but I will say that I had a blast. I hope you’ll check it out, laugh a little, and maybe be inspired to create your own pitch. You can share your idea and maybe have them use it in an episode (or develop it yourself and become a famous screenwriter idk).

Bestseller Status!
I hit #1 in two categories; first in Space Opera Science Fiction...
And then in the parent category, Space Opera. My publisher got me a featured promo in Bookbub, which gave THE SCORCHING an awesome boost in the rankings. Then my friends and followers helped me outsell DUNE for the day, earning me the top spot in one of my favorite genres. I read an article recently about how being an Amazon bestseller isn't a big deal anymore because some self-published authors just choose a niche category that means they only have to sell 2-3 copies in a day to become #1, but to make it in the Space Opera category is pretty awesome. I'm proud of my first book and I don't care who knows it! Thanks to all who helped me make it this far.

This Texas Girl is Moving to Oklahoma!
I have decided to attend law school at The University of Oklahoma. I will be sure to finish PETRICHOR before I begin this new adventure, but after that I may have to take a break from fiction writing, but I still have many other stories to tell, so this is not goodbye!

A Christmas Miracle
I did an interview on the local news! So cool.
I turned my hair into a Christmas tree for my school's costume contest and uploaded a quick picture to Reddit before heading off to work... never in my wildest dreams did I expect it to blow up, but that's what happened. Here's the original post if you'd like to see for yourself the madness that followed.
The original post at #1 on the front page of Reddit (RIP my inbox)
My followup post after I won the contest was just as popular. What a day!
Two days later, Yahoo news interviewed me, and the story spread across the globe. I even saw an article in Australia, and I think I was included in a Buzzfeed list.
The true sign of my 15 minutes of fame was when one of my students saw the post. Of course the rest of the school found out not long after.
