Happy Thanksgiving and PiBoIdMo post!

What does PiBoIdMo and turkey and Christmas Wish lists and witches and frogs have to do with one another? Well, they're all mentioned in my blog post which came out today (not on Black Friday--I got a little mixed up.) Here's a sneak peek at the post:

I talk about something all picture book writers should have at the top of their Christmas list. You don't want to miss it! Go Shopping!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

PiBoIdMo time!

It's that time of the year--Picture Book Idea Month. Sorry I'm a little late in promoting this great event, BUT I've been busy with LOTS of school visits and really, when I'm working like that, I don't have much time to blog and write (so writing comes first!)

I will be posting about what helps me brainstorm through a picture book to make it more creative and visual. This post will arrive on November 25th--yes, black Friday! But if you're too stuffed to go out on Friday, pop on over to Tara Lazar's blog and check it out: PiBoIdMo. Also, you should check out all the guest posts this month. It's a treasure trove of information about writing picture books!

One thing that has been spectacular for me about being a picture book author is that I get to share what I do with children. They think I'm a rock star. They really do! And that kind of love really helps you want to write more the next day, even when you get a boat load of rejections (which I still get--even from my own publishers!!!) I'll be posting one of those school visits soon. All of the kindergarten teachers dressed like Peepers! In fact, there were a ton of Peepers wandering around the school. So cute!

A continuing children's literature saga

Another few installments about my poor children's author and her overzealous aquaintance:

Goodnight Moon...Good Knight Mooooon...Good Byte Mooooon, oh GOOD GRIEF!

I was fooling around with xtranormal.com...a fun text to video website and was inspired by a hilarious video series, Mompetition. I did the same thing only with a children's lit twist. These videos will be lost on anyone not in the industry, but if you are, well, I hope you get a little chuckle (and remember, this is all in good fun!)

Oh my!

Hubby sent these to me...hmm...should I be offended?

He sure knows how to get me mad! ;-) But if that wasn't enough, here are some more!!!!

Okay...so I was about to get my rolling pin out (um...I wasn't going to roll out some cookies...) when THIS shows up in my inbox!!!!

Well, I kind of liked that one...so I forgave him. And here's the thanks I got:

Aren't these HILARIOUS??? (And sad, too...)
Oh, and the WORST one was this:

I don't think my mouth has closed after reading this! Wow.

Help for pb writers!

If you're a picture book writer or you've kicked the idea around or you're a certifiable wordsmith, you should go on over to children's author, Lynne Marie Pisano's blog. She's featuring different authors and their tips to help you write the next best picture book or just help you with any kind of writing. Her blog is called My Word Playground. And she isn't kidding! It's a veritable playground for wordsmiths. I'm loving it!

The Unveiling: Princess Peepers Picks a Pet!

Holy pumpkins! Last week, my editor gave the go ahead to show off my newest book: Princess Peepers Picks a Pet. So here it is!

Isn't she cute?
I love the zebra glasses. Tuesday Mourning is sooo talented!
What's it about? Well, poor Princess Peepers doesn't have a pet for the upcoming pet show at the Royal Academy for Perfect Princesses. And when she tries to find one, funny things happen. But in true Princess Peepers fashion, she finds the most unique pet fit for the world's most loveable...

Saying Good-bye to California!

I've lived in northern California for four years and that little adventure is about to come to an end. During that time, I've visited almost every part of this great, beautiful state, made some wonderful friends, and truly can say I "know" the people here. Before, California was always this unknown with unknown people. I thought of Hollywood stars, protestors in San Francisco, Disneyland, but it's SOOO much more. I'm really glad to have tasted its richness and feel very blessed.
Here are a...
