5 Sentence Mystery for #MysteryWeek

For the Goodreads #MysteryWeek, I wrote a five sentence mystery:

The Strange Case Of The Missing Corpse
By Joseph Cillo, Jr.

I slapped her good, when she came to me with that preposterous story.
"What did you do with the body?" I demanded.
"I tell you, I didn't, I, I don't know where he is!" she stammered, almost believably.
"Dead bodies don't just get up and walk away!" I shouted, shaking her, and tossing her to the ground, wisp of a thing that she was.
Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder, and grasping, felt my finger pierce through the wound as I turned and saw Him, risen.

On One-Star Ratings

I have gathered a couple of one-star ratings, which at first bothered me, thinking that they may influence others not to give the works a chance. And, that really is the only concern. I have written works that may touch many, but may poke others in particularly sore places.

But, as a writer, my intention is to poke and to prod, and for many, that is just not a pleasant experience. I want to create compelling stories that tell people things they may not want to hear. If the work is to have influence and offer a different way of thinking, there will be people who are comfortable with their current thinking and who do not want to be influenced.

In considering it further, I believe my mission is best fulfilled when people read my work, and positively hate it. Those are the people I want to reach. And if they hate it, I've done my job, as long as they think a bit about why they hate it so much.

I remember when I began writing screenplays thinking that some people would really hate what my movies were about, but that they would want to see them because they would want to talk about them, and how much they hate them. And I thought, I don't care if they throw popcorn at the screen, as long as they watch the movie.
