9 YA VIKING (NORSE) BOOKS TO GO BERSERK OVER

It is no secret that I’m writing a YA Viking Book (which you can pick up for free here). So I wanted to make a list of some of the other authors I have found along the way which do a similar thing with adventure stories with a Norse/Viking feel.

What I have found is most people don’t do a straight out Viking adventure (unless it’s historical fiction) but have kind of done what I do… which is to create an awesome fantasy world and populate an area or a race or whatever with Viking style people. People probably think this is a cheap or easy way out but I can tell you it still takes heaps of research to make it feel real and to keep it accurate.

13 YA HORROR READS FOR TEENS

One of my favourite genres in books and movies is horror. When an author manages to mix the elements of YA Horror and Dark Fantasy in the right way, I instantly fall in love. I’m not sure why exactly. I think it is the same for everyone. There is a sort of macabre curiosity to know what monsters are in the dark. Stories with the sinister side of theology always excite me, where demons and devils begin to possess and pollute the normal world. But this goes on to witches as well.

In The Black Witch, I use Orlog as the element of Horror. For a long time, she is the unknown evil that stalks Isolde through the woods. I won’t give too much away but the levels of malevolence being created in fiction right now is really outstanding. YA Paranormal Mystery Books You Have To Read!

Mystery is so important in keeping a story alive. It’s what keeps us turning pages late into the night. It’s that feeling of it being 1am but you just have to finish the chapter… but then there’s that damn cliffhanger that forces us to start reading just the first page and then it’s 3am and you may as well finish the book.
