Three Graphic Novels That Prove Comics Are Literature

Comic books (or graphic novels, if you want to make art-and-word-balloons sound Elite) are awesome. Not only are they enjoyable to read, they can teach one a lot about writing.

Come to think of it, “How Comic Books Can Improve Your Writing” would make a good blog post. Maybe I’ll write that in the future.

For now, though, I’m simply going to present three comic book series’s (is that the plural of “series”?) that are truly works of art (in every meaning of the phrase) and fine literature. The...

Five Things That’ll Make Your Novel More Awesome

I know, I know – you’re thinking, “This is another one of those writer-advice blog posts, where he tells me I need an attractive cover, an enticing blurb, fleshed-out characters, and blah blah blah. I’ve read enough of these things!”

Rest assured, frazzled reader – this isn’t that kind of post. I’m not going to throw stale content at you. This list will be wacky, unscientifically tested, dynamic, and super-fun – guaranteed!

So, let’s scrub the moss off that rock over there and get it rolling…...

Nostalgia Trip: Three Things from the 90s

This is the first part of a planned infinite-part series about those things in the past that get you all misty-eyed. Come, let us dance around in the aromatic breeze of nostalgia!

Everyone gets nostalgic about stuff.

OK, let’s just jump into it. Who needs some paragraphs-long “make a connection with the general reader” intro when you’ve got NOSTALGIA? As I just wrote, everyone feels the nostalgia tingle.

Today I have three awesome things from the nineties. If you grew up in this decade, these...

New Release! Get it NOW!

I’ve just released my new novel, The Trillionaire & the Secretary! It’s available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited.

This romantic story should appeal to anyone who is captivated by passionate people who battle to get the love they deserve, letting nothing stand between them and their soul mates.

[image error]As the cover clearly indicates, they’re happy! Also, to be clear, this novel has a HEA ending!

Here’s what it’s about:

Despite having more money than anyone in the world, Rich Vanderbilt hasn’t found ha...

Your Own Canon

“If you don’t like a book that’s part of The Canon, the fault lies with you, not the book. The book is good, but you just may not be ready for it yet.”

This quote, paraphrased from memory, was uttered by one of my English professors during my time at an indoctrination center – also called a “university.” Many other memories have faded into nothingness, but this quote remains, like a signpost on the astral plane of my mind – a signpost that points to a direction I don’t want to go, ever.

This...

The Awesomeness of Indie

I have an observation to make: there are a lot of talented self-published authors out there. A lot.

To many people, this is as banal an observation as saying Donald Trump is narcissistic. Those who’ve been reading indie authors for years know they produce work that equals, if not surpasses, what traditionally published authors produce.

Other people, though, are still insisting that indie authors are barely literate wackos, monkeys at keyboards, drooling egotists, who’re churning out books no...

Hey folks, Rock Lewis here. I’m one of the characters in this here novel by this Matt Cooper fella.

Oh, his name is Cowper? Haw! I bet he got picked on in school, strange name like that!

Anyway, I’m supposed to plug this book, so here goes. I ain’t all that good at plugging any sorts of things, so I’ll just tell it like it is and be on my way. The Beenie Weenies are on the hot plate, too, and I’m ready for my feed.

My First Giveaway: An Analysis

I recently ran a Rafflecopter giveaway, the main purpose being to increase the size of my mailing list. I gave away a $20 Amazon gift card, because lots of people shop on Amazon, and lots of people like money.

This giveaway did put some fat on my reed-thin mailing list – specifically, 211 subscribers signed up through the giveaway.

So do I consider this whole shebang a success? Well, of course I’m not going to tell you that in the third paragraph! You have to read on, dear friend.

Isn’t that...

Interview with Author Kevin Berg

Like me, Kevin Berg is new to the indie scene, having published his debut novel, Indifference, a few months ago. You can read my review of the novel here – I’m definitely not indifferent about Indifference. Ha ha ha, haw haw haw.

I tracked Kevin down and threw some questions his way, and he threw answers back at me. The exchange is below.

Q: Tell us a bit about yourself. What does Kevin Berg do when he’s not crafting stories?

A: I have two daughters that exhaust me. They are four and one at t...
