Rage on one side, courage on the either.

Cold Californian 10

Afterburners of a jet
Set behind me as I walk
From the terminal
To a terminus
Devoid of me for five
Lonesome years

With the jet set sun
Setting high in the sky
As I find my way
Down the I-5 into highland
After passing through roads so red
With the land before

Of deserts
Of cradles
Of skies never cloudy
Or dreadful grey

Never expected to set back down
And land upon a world scarred
With five long years of history
I could now learn from perspective
Turning that time into ten
Longer eras I bathed...

Monarch

Plastic regent
With antennae inside
To feel the world
Around and what surrounds

Seeing with an iris
That opens and constricts
Pupil dilates and closes
And vision tightens

Flying like a phantom
A wraith hovering
In its unnatural color
A stark platinum mantle

(Unalive but never dying
With a tiny mind of its own)

Summoned by an aspect
Of glass morphing and stained
Like a warlock conjuring
A servant with magicka

It follows and stays
Sways in the wind
Gently but is always
Within range of its mage

Puyallup Narcos

They claim a
Loose little empire
Woven together with
Broken curfews
And worried parents
(In the beginning)

But what night life
Gives way to are the
Vices and devices
To torture those in
The way of whatever
Hit they search for

Living with their
Abusive parents
Hiding their meth
In legendary edition
Halo 3 Master Chief
Helmet, contented

With the threat of
Police finding them
Never manifested
They conive and
Thrive by tricking
Their “friends”

Staying with them
Living with them
Being together
As...

Reliving in Diners

We were ruined
After a night of reconnecting
Once again

I found a band
On the ground
During the walk
After verbal parries
And repostes
We finally found
A Denny’s to eat at
And sat in my car
To talk

Late into the night
At least 2 AM
Recalling all the
Times we’d
Done this before

Rocksteady

Can’t knock
It down
It’s a force
Of course
Of nature
That can’t be
Brought down to
Wrought against
Dirt and rocks
It rots
Above the troubled
And misery never
Shocked

Black Ice Brush

Concrete ground
Cracks and shifts
Like the plates
Of the world
That quake and make
The interred whirl

The frozen
Breakage

Invisible ice
Invulerable twice
Can knock you down
Without a fight

Morning sun melts
Snow in the boughs
To drip like broken
Taps made by icicles

They make slack and
Dissatisfact with
The heat now fracturing
Cold it once captured

Black gravel welded
Together by friction
And liquefying into oils
To soak the constriction

Breakage now
Spillage
Dislocation now
Disequilibrium
An...
