Book news, social media stuff, and some recs
November’s been a bit of a hectic month. I had edits, I released a book, family visited, I decided to do NaNo (which is awesome) and I got a part-time job which turned out to be closer to full-time (which I actually love to bits.) So it was a lot of good things but they all ended up making feel panicky and like I had no time and wasn’t getting enough done, and the thing I ended up leaving in the dust was… social media. I just haven’t been on. Which was terribly bad timing and also I misse...

All the book news ever!
[image error]There actually isn’t too much book news, but I figured I should consolidate.
First, Skin Hunger is out next week on the 13th! I’m awkward when it comes to writing about my own books—I don’t know why, it’s just a thing—but I’m basically absolutely thrilled that this book will be out in the world. I mean, I’m thrilled any time a book of mine releases. It’s amazing. But writing this book was particularly cathartic, and Ava is one of my very favorite characters. I loved being in her mind.

Pumpkins – a Half Halloween short
Writing shorts off finished books is kind of… an odd feeling. I like doing it for the Escaping Indigo series characters because, since they continuously appear in the next books in the series, it always feels like there might be a little bit more of their story to tell, even though their individual stories are complete within their books. With Half it’s a little different—Kin and Luca’s story is finished, and I’ve never had any plans to pick it back up or add to it. But I miss these charac...

Three Songs for October
I’m still doing three songs a month. I’d do ten a month, if I thought I could get away with it.

Is it real?

I’ve made a promise to myself to stop apologizing for my choice in blog topics, tweets, or basically anything else I want to write, as long as it’s not hurting anyone. So I’m going to write…

A GIANT POST ABOUT BLADE RUNNER.
Because I went to see Blade Runner 2049 (after rewatching the original the night before) and I don’t know if I’ve ever been so confused about my feelings towards a movie. Although now I’ve had some time to sit with it and think it over and let it sink in and…...

Three Songs – September
I’ve been going back and listening to some older stuff, so none of my songs for September are, um, new.
Shiver by Coldplay
This came on the radio the other day (I listen to RadioBDC because it’s streaming and it’s awesome and they just play pretty much whatever they want, within the alt/indie rock genres.) It was a surprise because I don’t think this was a single? Or if it was, it never got played much. But it was lovely to hear.
Parachutes, the album this is off of, is, as far as I’m co...

Late night, slightly tipsy writing on writing – Surprises, block, and some red wine
Okey-dokey. I had a shitty day, but am now pleasantly flushed with red wine, so. Obviously, it’s blog article writing time.
There’s currently a Category 4 hurricane headed for Florida, and not a damn thing I can do about it. But maybe, some distraction? Let’s do something fun. (I have a feeling my definition of fun is somewhat skewed these days, since I consider copy edits fun. \o/ Bear with me.) When I asked for suggestions for writer-ly blog posts on twitter a while back (still taking...

Slightly tipsy writing on writing–idea to published book
I really, err, enjoy blogging. This is kind of a surprise to me because I had zero plans to blog, ever. But it’s really nice to write stuff without… having so much pressure for it to be something. Or to have to get it published after. A blog! Instant publishing! Ta-da! Anyway, I thought I should maybe think about writing about… writing and books, because what I tend to blog about… aren’t those things. So I asked on twitter for post suggestions. (If anyone has any other suggestions, l...

In Which I Ramble Endlessly About Manga
Continuing my theme of blogging about stuff that isn’t writing and isn’t prose books (what’s wrong with me, really) I’m gonna write about… manga. And I know that the world is ending and probably this seems like the most wrong time for a post on manga, or anything that isn’t politics. But self-care is also important. We can’t solve anything if we are curled in a ball on the floor, despairing. Which has been my natural state for the last month or so and I have been absolutely no good to any...
