Boost Your Traffic and Income with These Blog Templates
One of my #jesspicks readers asked about making some progress with their new blog. I already knew Josh Spector had some excellent articles about this topic, and I re-discovered this post. It was good, too, because I want to keep these ideas in mind for my writing. Here are the templates:

4 Tips for Saying No Without Feeling Guilty
Many folks feel like they have to say yes to everything that comes their way, and it can leave us overwhelmed. Setting boundaries and prioritizing your well-being is crucial for your mental and emotional health.
1. Be honest and realistic about your capacity.First, be honest with yourself and others about what you can handle. Recognize your limits and understand that you have limited time and energy. You can’t say yes to everything, and that’s OK. It’s all about prioritizing what truly matters to you. Trust me, once you’re honest about your capacity, you can make better decisions about where to direct your time and energy.
2. Offer alternatives. If possible, when you say no, try to offer alternatives that can still be helpful to the person. Maybe suggest someone else who could assist them or propose a different solution. This shows you care about the other person’s needs even if you can’t meet their request.
3. Build your “no” muscle.Saying no can feel strange or awkward initially, but it’s all part of the process. Take baby steps by saying no to small requests or situations that won’t have a huge impact. As you gain confidence, you can work your way up to saying no to bigger commitments. And remember, saying no isn’t selfish—it’s an act of self-care.
4. Give yourself grace.Sometimes, saying no can make us feel guilty or afraid of disappointing others. Show yourself some compassion and give yourself some grace. While it can feel uncomfortable, it’s OK to prioritize your own needs and well-being.

How to Take a Break from Your Newsletter
Publishers have to make a lot of judgment calls about how to structure their leave — especially if it’s for a month or more — and answer questions about when to tell readers, whether to schedule sends while they’re off and how to keep growing their operation while they’re away.
Great advice from Inbox Collective on how to take a break and ideas for communicating with your audience before you do. You’ll see a familiar name in this one!
I love that this is being discussed. Some folks say you are not serious if you take a break without batching tons of content beforehand. But I believe that, like most things, if you need to take a break, do it in a way that works for you.

How to Say No
Sarah Knight gives us 10 tips for saying no.
The “slow your no roll” tells people that “I’ll have to think about that” and allows you to pause, take a breath, and decide if this is something you can say yes to without feeling pressure in the moment.
Also, I like the “filing under nope” – for one thing, it reminds me of my nephew saying, “I noped you” while hanging up on you without saying goodbye. This goes with Sarah’s idea of simply deleting unsolicited requests without feeling like you must respond.

7 Ways to Find Readers and Subscribers When No One Knows You Yet
“You’re not going to get a zillion visitors in the early days. But if you can spark and maintain solid relationships with the ones you do get, you’ll start to pick up momentum.”
I especially love #2 – where you answer every question you’ve seen, read, or heard about for your topic. And create Q&A posts. By addressing common questions your audience may have you not only improve your SEO but also provide valuable content. This approach also ensures you have ideas to write about, even when feeling stuck.

The First Question to Ask Yourself When You Sit Down to Work
Laura invites us to ask ourselves this question each morning:
“How would I plan my workday if I knew the power was going out at 10:30?”
It’s a different approach, but it helps you identify your priorities for the day.

Made By Monday – On Content “Frog” Batching.
As I explore ways to juggle content creation and work with my assistant to promote my content, I revisit this podcast episode quite a lot. Jenny Blake does her content batching on Mondays which helps her get her creative stuff done so she can focus on other things later in the week.

Readwise Reader
I like to think of this tool as a combination of Pocket (the Read It Later app) and Feedly (an app to read all your blogs in one place). This free (for now) tool is my perfect one-two punch for curating content. This post sold me on it.

Creators, it’s OK to Keep Your Day Job
“For them, the day job is a feature, not a bug, and they don’t have dreams of working in coffee shops and trapezing around the globe. They’re perfectly fulfilled creating their content on nights and weekends, and any revenue they generate from that content is just an added bonus.”
I love Simon’s post about this because it highlights some benefits of a side hustle: diversifying income, daily structure, and collaborating with others. There are some of us () who love our day jobs but also want to have something of our own.
The #sidehustlelife allows us to have the best of both worlds; as you can see, there are positives to consider. What do you think?
