Review: Blood Muse

I DON'T READ VAMP BOOKS. But I do read Kevin Woodward because he's a pleasure to read. Just the fact that he's aware only Antman can push a cork in a bottle is enough for me. And while it's a bit darker than I usually go for (Addi - hello - vamps!) the author had me hogtied.

But there's a lot more. There're these great complex characters, the strong thruline but never a simple one. The climactic scene where Kiran sacrifices himself for love. (I won't say how, trying to not be spoilery.)

And then there's the sex. I love an unexpected Dom. I love a strong sub. Yeah. You want to read this.

Look, if you want an amazing relationship with a complex dynamic, and a great story in a world you can melt into, you want to read this.

Author’s note:

You can read Dancing Men stand-alone. There’s plenty of information about what happened in the first two parts of Hunt and Cam’s story for you to easily follow their relationship arc. The mysteries are always complete within the stories.

BUT - if you’re a romance lover, the relationship story is not a romance. It is a love story. But it’s also the story of two independent Alpha males: one gay and one bisexual, one Dom and one switch, with a preference for BDSM. And they aren’t simple, take from someone who shares headspace with them.

I love these guys. They surprise me and challenge me and break my heart, sometimes. They inspire me. Just some FYI for the new readers.

Okey-dokey.

All I want to do is write the next Hunter Dane Investigation. And finish the Desire for ... series. But first - cover redesign and promotion and re-editing and promotion and research and FREAKIN' DAMN PROMOTION.

And everyone has been so nice. I have the very best readers ever who write the loveliest and also most honest reviews.

And you'd think I could devote some time to all this other stuff and also be writing. No. Once I go there, to that world, that's where I live until the new book is done.

Everything goes to hell. Not only is promotion not done, but laundry piles up and dust bunnies proliferate like ... well ... bunnies.

It all takes too much time.

I have to go. I left Hunt at a poker table and I'm not sure in his present mindset he won't blow his life savings. I left Cam in rehab pushing himself too hard because he wants to find Hunter and kick his ass. And I left Avia and Ben on a couch, in the throes of orgasm and they have to be getting really tired by now.

I'm sending out excerpts as I go when I ever start writing again, you can get on my newsletter list if you want to get them.

I have to go post on FB now.

MATCHSTICK MEN IS LIVE

So, I was saying to someone in email that my best-selling story, On His Knees only had 6 reviews and she said "You have a bunch on Goodreads."

I do?

See, I'm like, the lousiest social media user, ever. I can do Twitter. I loathe FB. I can do Tumbler. You just post pics and links and look at stuff. My speed!

But Goodreads seemed very complicated. Like, I knew when I came back today I had a blog someplace I remembered, but couldn't find it. Then I found it and I'm not sure how. So this might be my last word on Goodreads ... ::cue the portentous music::

There are not only reviews of Knees, there are two discussions. I read one. I wasn't vastly surprised that some don't like the writing. I hate Twizzlers. I just do.

But I was to find out some thought it was noncon or dubcon. And for some reason they thought it would have a cliffhanger. (It doesn't.) And - they are certain Cam will be chasing Hunter around.

The noncon discussion is an important one and I'm happy to have it.

The cliffhanger thing is obvious if you read the story.

But I just can't imagine Camden Caulfield Snow chasing anyone.

In any case, MATCHSTICK MEN: a Hunter Dane investigation is out now, the first book in what I hope will be a long, continuing series of erotic suspense stories. I'm trying to keep them under 50k.

I guess people can read it and resolve the chasing thing for themselves.

I'm sorry I'm lousy at being here. It's kinda rude. I'm am bookmarking this page so I can find the blog again and talk to people.
