Happy Mother's Day
For all those who are mothers around the world, and for all those blessed with mothers, I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day, whether you are in a country that celebrates it or not.
I've never personally been one of those people who put much stock in those "holidays" created by someone for honoring people on certain days. I believe that there are some people who should be honored for who they are on a daily basis, and for me, my mom would be at the top of the list.
She taught me to be strong, determined and to not be afraid to be who I was meant to be. She showed me through example what I could achieve if I strived for the most from myself, both intellectually and professionally.
She gave me my hunger and love for the written word. From her I learned that devouring books opened worlds and incited a bone-deep need to tell the stories locked within my mind. From her I learned the beauty of crafting worlds and the joy it would bring to simply let my fingers fly across the keyboard.
My mother taught me so many things while managing to somehow also keep me and my little brother in line. This was a monumental task for a woman who was single-handedly running the household.
I could sit here for hours and never come close to the end of the enormous list of things I learned from my mother. So perhaps the best I can do is what I do every day when I speak with her on the phone.
I love you.

Pleasure Brigade: Passion Next Door
Hi everyone! I'm thrilled that the first story in the Pleasure Brigade series is available now at Ellora's Cave. Passion Next Door is probably one of the hottest stories I've written so far.
One of my bestest writing friends is having a release party for me over on her blog. Trust me, the eye candy's worth the click. :)
www.alannahlynne.blogspot.com
I've been getting a few emails asking if Autumn's story will continue. And what about the other guys?
Well, I have every intention for there to be another story for Autumn. I'm polishing up a Pleasure Brigade story to submit in the next week or so. Hopefully I'll have more on that very soon.
Someone asked where the inspiration for this story came. And, well, I wish I could say I had a neighbor like THAT in my past. But, sadly, this one is directly attributable to a very active imagination one night when I was thinking "What if..."
Hope you all enjoy.
Have a fabulous weekend, and don't forget to go check out the party Alannah's throwing.

Happy Monday!
Whew! It's hard to believe that yet another month is about to collapse. This is truly the beginning of the part of the year I enjoy the most, though. The crispier weather, the magical moments had around the Holidays with family and friends. There's nothing quite like this time of the year.
I had the lovely opportunity to take in some breathtaking fall folliage on Thursday though. Okay, it wasn't "take in" as much as glimpse as as the airplane I was on whirled by. But I still saw more bits of yellow, gold and red than I'd ever had before. Absolutely gorgeous.
I had a wonderful time at the RWA's NJRW Conference the past few days. The lovely ladies of that chapter know how to throw a conference for sure. Meeting so many wonderful people has never been quite so simple--now I can only hope all those names swimming around in my head choose to stay tagged to the proper face for the next time I see everyone. :)
What about you? What did you do this weekend?

'Tis Almost The Season
Wow! Can you believe it's October already?
The crispier, dark mornings have crept into Austin, even though I can't believe it's almost winter again. And with the encroaching colder weather comes....
Shopping!
Every year I vow to get a jumpstart on my Christmas and Holiday shopping. No matter my good intentions, something seems to encroach on my carefully constructed plan and leave me where I always am--frantically dashing through the aisles shoveling whatever I can into my cart in a harried frenzy of determination. This year I won't be buying gifts on Christmas Eve.
Before Christmas though I have two birthdays in my family, and one for my best friend. My friend's birthday is this month, just a few days away from Halloween. (Might I say it's quite difficult not to tease her about this every year...hehe).
My brother's is in November. He was a Turkey baby. So, does anyone have gift ideas for a technically inclined man?

Sex Games Releases Today at Loose-Id
Hello everyone! Yay! It's release day and we know what that means--it's contest time again. So post a comment, or subscribe to my newsletter or yahoo group and you'll be entered. This time around I'm going to surprise you and not tell you what the prize is. Let's just say it's worth the time. *cackles*
Sex Games is now available at Loose-Id.
I'm going to give you a blurb shortly, but for those who may have already bought it or are about to do so -- I love you forever btw *grins* - make sure you sign up for either my chat or newsletter groups. There's a bonus chapter from Sex Games available:)
Blurb:
Dixie Sinclair spends her days toiling over role playing kits in her small high-class adult boutique called Play Me. Allergic to commitment, she considers sexy Jase Cavannaugh to be the perfect partner for some fun and games. After all, he's just as noncommittal as she is. The man radiates sexual charisma – she'd be crazy not to.
Jase leaps at the chance to play with the little minx. Something about peeling back the layers of her personality and finding the really Dixie Sinclair appeals to him on a primal level. He believes in working hard and playing harder, and she definitely needs someone that can not only quench her sexual appetite, but match her whit.
Neither Dixie nor Jase is prepared for the chemistry their play ignites; and each role play pushes the envelope on not only their darkest fantasies, but their sworn belief that love is a four letter word.

Dear Tire Repair Man
Dear Mr. Tire Man:
I don't know how to break this to you gently, so I'll be quick about it. Sort of like a bandaid.
I am a woman. That doesn't mean I'm ignorant or gullible.
I know. You probably don't understand that. So let me put it to you simply.
Women have a brain. We may not use it in the same way you men choose to use yours, but believe me. It's there and I do use it. So, when I brought my car in to get a tire today my brain actually came along with me. It didn't stay at home to tend to the laundry or do housework.
And remember when I told you I wanted the tire and nothing else?
Yeah, apparently we need to go over that again.
And did you happen to notice that I was sitting there in the lobby when you used your scare tactics on all the others that came back to pick their cars up? Remember those times you told them they had to get so and so done now or their car would erupt into flames? Okay, you didn't use flames but I kept thinking that was next.
I heard you upsell a brake job and scam someone out of $1,000, plus another $100 for a "bad battery." I watched you scare an elderly couple into buying 4 tires AND a new battery. After the fourth "bad battery" in an hour I started to wonder if it was your batteries that needed changing and not ours.
So, given all that, why did you think I was gullible enough to believe you when you came to me and tried to scare me into a new battery, a brake flush, an oil change AND more tires?
Shame on you.

Coming Back Out of Blog Lurkdome
I can't believe it's already 2009, and that January is half over. Geez. Where does the time go?
I've been absorbed in a couple of works in process I'm finishing up. Both projects are super exciting. So much so that I hadn't even realized how long it had been since I last posted to my blog. Oh wow!
So, I have made a vow to do better.
In the meantime - a few exciting things....
I've found out that my short story will be in the 2009 Ellora's Caveman anthology. Woo Hoo! The Flavors of Ecstasy. Love the title of the anthologies this year, and I'm super excited for my first opportunity to be in it. I'm not sure which authors are in the same edition - but I will be in the second edition which comes out in June.
The story is titled FOR THE KING'S PLEASURE. Look for blurbs and excerpts very soon.
In addition, A MATE'S RISK should be coming soon from Ellora's Cave as well. No date has been scheduled yet, but I'm looking forward to sharing that with everyone as well. It's my first time travel style paranormal.
Here's to an awesome 2009 for everyone!
