Let's Get DEFIANT (Prize Alert!)

Today, I want to spotlight a book for the historical lovers out there. (Come on–hot historicals are awesome, you know it!).

Kris Kennedy has a fabulous new book available–it's called DEFIANT.  Here's the cover:

And here's the most excellent blurb:

A rogue knight and an enchanting renegade join forces to right old wrongs in award-winning author Kris Kennedy's sizzling new medieval romance.

A warrior with questionable intentions . . .

Jamie Lost is the king's most renowned commander, a fearless lieutenant ordered to kidnap an exiled priest before rebel forces close in. The mission is simple—until he meets a mysterious thief who will steal his quarry and then his heart.

A lady of remarkable courage . . .

Beautiful Eva is also seeking Father Peter, but she intends to protect him from a secret that could cost him his life. She senses that she, too, should fear Jamie—not just for his wickedly sharp sword and dangerously muscular body, but for the powerful longing he ignites within her.

A secret that could overthrow the king.

When a band of mercenaries abducts the priest, Jamie and Eva must form a volatile alliance. As civil war unfolds around them, they embark on an epic journey that betrays the truth about their hidden identities, their unexpected loyalties, and the simmering attraction that could seal their fates forever.

More Books!!

Sorry to be so quiet lately. I finished up the rough draft of my current Fallen Angel of Death story, and I'm editing and revising it in order to get it into nice shape for my editor. :-)

But, while I'm out revising, there are some really good books being released into the wild today, so I thought I'd take a few minutes and share some that I like–and, hopefully, you can tell me some that I need to be looking for, too.

First up, my buddy Lisa Renee Jones has a new book on the shelves:

THE LEGEND OF MICHAEL is a fast-paced, hot-thrill ride of a book. I got to read an ARC, so I can definitely say I loved this book. :-) It's the start of a new series, and I can't wait to read more.

And are you looking for an intense romantic suspense read? Then you should check out Pamela Clare's new BREAKING POINT.

That is an awesome cover.  And based on all the great reviews I've read of this book, it promises hot passion and some adrenaline fueled scenes sure to leave you turning pages as quickly as you can.

For the historical romance lovers out there, don't miss Vanessa Kelly's MY FAVORITE COUNTESS. I have adored every Vanessa Kelly book that I have ever read.  Can't wait to get my grubby hands on her latest book!

And, because free deals are always fun:

DARK LEGACY by Anna DeStefano (I got this one yesterday and can't wait to read it!) is currently free on the Kindle.

On a semi-related note (hey, we're talking books!), I'm a featured author at the Bookaholics Romance Book Club for May. There' s a fun interview posted, and, why, yes, there are giveaways!

So…what's on your reading agenda?

Booking It: Books Released Today

Since today's a Tuesday, in Romanceland, that means it is a big book release day. So, I thought I'd share some books that I am looking forward to reading (and I hope you'll share some that you'd like to read).

I was very saddened by the news that Beverly Barton had passed away. I think Beverly was a phenomenal author.  Her latest book, DEAD BY MORNING, is out today. I know it will be a great romantic suspense release.

I am also anticipating my friend Donna Grant's new release. UNTAMED HIGHLANDER promises to be a tale full of magic, passion, and emotion–how could I not be looking forward to this one?

Now tell me…what are you looking forward to reading? What should I be looking forward to? I've been in a writing cave lately, so I don't want to miss out on good books!

No eReader? No problem!

I've had a few folks ask me how they can read my new ebook story, BOUND BY BLOOD, without a Kindle, Nook, Sony, or other e-Reader. If you don't have an e-Reader, no worries! You can still download the book and read it on your computer.  There are lots of free programs that you can get such as "Kindle For the PC" or "Nook for PC". When you download these free programs, you can easily view ebooks.

And if you haven't checked out the ebooks that are out there, you should! In addition to my .99 BOUND BY BLOOD, there are tons of incredible deals waiting for you. You can get free books or special books or ebook only books.

Right now (so as of 4/13), you can get these books for free on the Kindle:

Leslie Kelly's SLOW HANDS (Harlequin Blaze)

Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipes (Yes, I am a chocolate chip addict!)

RaeAnne Thayne's DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT (Silhouette Special Edition)

Christine Warren's HEART OF THE SEA

So go forth. Read. Have fun! I'm sure about to add more books to my TBR pile!

Giveaways & Events

Today I'm blogging at Were Vamps Romance–talking about why I love the old Little Red Riding Hood story and giving away a Cynthia Eden book to a commenter (this book choice does include an ARC of NEVER CRY WOLF).  Anytime I write a shifter story, I always think of Little Red Riding Hood.  I always thought the wolf in that story was, well, *more* than just a wolf.

There is a big event coming over at the Danger: Women Writing site.  By "big" event, I mean we're going to be giving away a ton of awesome prizes, including an eReader.  We've got some great guests lined up to join our party, too. Lots of editors & agents.  You don't want to miss out on this fun!

BOUND BY BLOOD–Available on Kindle

My e-book story, BOUND BY BLOOD, is now available on the Kindle!  It's properly formatted, contains a table of contents, an excerpt from NEVER CRY WOLF, and an excerpt from KILLER SECRETS by Katie Reus.  The BOUND BY BLOOD novella itself contains 21,000 words and is priced for a thrifty .99.

I've learned so much through this self-publishing adventure (and I'm still learning!).  BOUND BY BLOOD is currently available on Smashwords and it's available at B&N, too.  I'll be adding to more sites over the weekend.

I wanted to write this story because I've always wondered…do vamps and werewolves really have to be enemies?  What would happen if they were mates, instead?

BOUND BY BLOOD:

It's an Immortal War…

Vampires and werewolves have been blood enemies for centuries, but now a new threat is rising…demons are escaping from hell and those demons are intent on wiping out both the vamps and the werewolves.

When you have no one to trust…

In order to stop the demons, pureblood vampire princess Morgan LaBeaux agrees to the treaty offered by werewolf alpha Jace Vaughn. She'll mate with him, share her blood with him…and in return, the wolves will aid the vampires in this battle.

The enemy of my enemy is my husband…

But Morgan doesn't realize just how dangerous the wolves can truly be. Jace has been waiting years to claim her. He's set a trap for his princess, and now that he has her, Jace doesn't plan to let her go.  He'll send the demons back to hell, and he'll keep his vampiress—forever.

Because the blood binds all.

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!!!
