Virgin Author Ch 2 - Writing: Training & Winning

CHAPTER TWO - Writing: Training & WinningIn the middle of your next writing frenzy, your addled brain might be tempted to think, this is it. Oh yes, this is it. It feels so good. One word after another pounding relentlessly down onto your keyboard. Stroke after stroke from pen to page. Let it never stop. Oh, let it never stop. But stop it does.Someone walks in on you. Your mom calls. The cat sits on you, tail obnoxiously flouncing as only the insolent feline race can. Trust me when I say, inte...

Virgin Author Ch 1 Inspiration & A Fickle Muse

CHAPTER ONE:Inspiration & a Fickle MuseThis is me writing what I'll eventually turn into a book… It lasts so long as I’m not distracted or the energy behind it doesn’t burn out. Then… THE END. That’s all I write. I probably forget all about it in a bit and move on with my life. The book and all it could have been dies with me – blown away like a dandelion wish in the summer time. And yet we still have books. New books come out like clockwork all the time. Meanwhile, my story sits in a forgott...

Demons, Shadow-People, & What's Next

I've always been involved with the paranormal. When I say always I don't just mean within the last 10 years, either.I've been around it since I was born. Properly documenting it,however, started back in 2015. I had been solo investigating before that, but in 2015 I foundedDoomsday Paranormal Research as a way to put a face to my adventures.A little over two years ago, while investigating out of state, I encountered what could only be described as a demon.I stopped all production.Within the las...

Home Towns, Real Jobs, & Helping Artists

So, I get excited when I come across internet articles talking about how St Louis is one of the top places in the world for writers to live. It happened again this morning when I was reading my Literary Hub e-newsletter... Hannibal is only about an hour and a half north, you know! However, there is an entire paradigm shift to be had in an easy afternoon trip.I like going down to St Louis about once a month. I'm usually going to one of the wonderful St Louis Writers Guild workshops! Whenever I...

Podcasts, Sequels, and Fellowships
(of the Ring)

This morning I finished re-reading The Fellowship of the Ring for (I think) the 15th time! I'm back to reading Draculfor the first time, then I'll switch back to Two Towers and continue onwards with Middle Earth. I like doing things again. There are certain things inside me which I only realize I love after I've been exposed to them. Like seeds inside, they just wait for the right season, weather, and soil to grow and bloom.I've been binging on podcasts lately, too. Mostly small-time ones fro...

My Girl (Terry)

I usually type on my laptop. It's portable and convenient. However, it's also sometimes slow. But I have a fallback for this: a dedicated Slow Computer reading book. In this case, it'sThe Life of Saint Teresa of Avila. So, when inevitable updates, UPGRADE YOUR AVG NOW!!!! (Looking at you, AVG) and other AMAZING NEW FEATURES come - or when Microsoft wants to, once again, update something - I ignore the screen, let it do its thing, and read instead. One of the things I'm really enjoying about my...

Beyond & Back Again

Recently, (the day of this post, actually), I began one of my annual traditions: re-readingThe HobbitandLord of the Rings! - I used to do The Silmarillion too, but good Lord, that one takes some dedication! If you're reading this then you've probably read at least some of my stuff. You've, um... probably noticed how much I enjoy Tolkien's universe (plus a few others). More times than naught, I get flack for re-reading his books. Why is that?Ok, ok, can I be a picky reader? Yes, most definitely...

Immortality (In a Box)

An author usually doesn't strike it rich. So, in the meantime, they often have to find alternatives to paying the bills each month. So, I doAuthor Services- I work with all sorts of wonderful people to make their goals, hopes, and dreams happen. So while I market and edit, format and design for everyone else, they can just write. (More onAuthor Services HERE)One of the clients I have is a lovely lady from Idaho named Nita Killebrew, wife of the late baseball legend Harmon Killebrew. We started...
