Who is Alexis Danforth? (aka Lexi)

Lexi has been a challenge. I wanted her to start off as very reserved and a bit thrown off by the town’s people. As the series progresses I want to become a more fun character. In Book 2, she’s still not as lighthearted as I’d hoped for. Characters do have a mind of their own, though. I give them some freedom, but have to remind them that I am in charge. However, she isn’t emerging as quickly as I thought she would. I do enjoy her though.

Meet the Characters: Jake Donovan (Cryptic Cove Series)

So, who is this Jake Donovan guy and where did I come up with him?

When I started planning the Cryptic Cove series, Jake was simply going to be a secondary character and love interest for Lexi. As I got to know him, though, I realized he wanted a bigger role. In fact, he could have become a very strong lead character, but since this series features a female amateur sleuth, he didn’t fit the bill. He was a bit upset, but we made a deal to let him emerge more throughout the series.

Editing Murder & Menace

And now the editing phase begins.

I know I should enjoy this part as much as I do writing the first draft, but I tend to find this phase a bit daunting at times.

I don't hate it, but it's not as much fun as the creation phases.

I'm busy writing book 2 of the Cryptic Cove Cozy Mystery series.

Lexi has found herself in the middle of another murder case while dealing with relationship woes of her own and the return of Paisley's father, the guy who ran off and left Peyton years earlier.
Can their friendship survive the strain?
Can Lexi make a commitment to Jake Donovan? Can she figure out who the killer is before he strikes again?

Lexi is just going through the ringer in this one.
