Many Sounds of Silence coming on January 9th!

So many of you have asked me about Abbi’s story…Well, here it is! Many Sounds of Silence is available for pre-order and it hits your devices January 9th.

This was a difficult book for me to write. Not because of Abbi–she’s a special lady, and I loved spending time with her. No. This book was hard because of the subject matter.

We now live in a world of cyber bullying. I’ve lived through this with my daughter, and the entire situation–the fact that people treat each other so poorly–breaks my heart. I mean rips a hole clean through it.

I struggle to understand the desire to destroy another person’s self-esteem, safety, and ability to trust. Maybe, through Abbi, some people will see how hurtful their actions are. Or…maybe not. I’m old enough now to realize there are just some really cruel people in the world. A sucky lesson, to be sure.

For those of you who have read Many Sounds of Silence, I’d love your thoughts. Write to me or put it up on your favorite e-tailer or Goodreads. I want to know what stuck with you about this book (if anything). Abbi doesn’t always make the smartest decisions. Her fears and insecurities ensure that. You know why? Because I know ladies this age, and they don’t always make the best decisions. Sometimes the hurt or censure just are too much. But guess what? You aren’t alone. As Clay says, “You never were.”

Abbi doesn’t always make the smartest decisions. Her fears and insecurities ensure that. You know why? Because I know ladies this age, and they don’t always make the best decisions. Neither do ladies my age because sometimes the hurt or censure just are too much.

But guess what? You aren’t alone. As Clay says, “You never were.”

Take that to heart, please. Hold it close and remember, always, I’m here, cheering for you just as I did for Abbi.

In reading love,

Alexa

Searching for peace

Mila Trask’s trying to forget happiness. Her much-wanted pregnancy ended in a crunch of steel and pain. Her career has been derailed and her body scarred by a stalker no one else believes in. And Murphy Etsam, the man she thought would love her forever, has shot into international rock stardom on the pure fury of the song he wrote when they broke up. But Mila has to talk to him one last time…

Running from the truth

One glimpse of her in the crowd and Murphy knows a year of drowning his sorrows in booze, fame, and other women hasn’t erased a molecule of his passion for lovely, maddening Mila. Too bad Mila’s stalker picks that moment to attack.

Too close to doubt…

With both their lives in danger, the ex-lovers are forced into hiding, to face the trauma and misunderstanding that wrenched them apart—and to battle the chemistry that still urges them together. There’s no going back to what they had before. But the future is theirs to claim…

Book Tour for BETWEEN BREATHS

September 19 through October 10!

What a great tour! The reviews were awesome, and I want to thank Anna of RBTL for creating such great buzz!

Here are a few of the reviews:

Though she’s nursing a broken heart, Briar Moore has promised herself that she’ll no longer live her life for others. She’ll live life her way and is intent on enjoying every minute of it. Granted, her mind and heart refuse to let go of the past, reminding her of the little things at every turn. All that changes when she comes across the gorgeous Hayden Crewe. He’s everything she never knew she wanted in a man, something her mind and body remind her of every time they’re together.

Another great read, Alexa has given us a second titillating read to sink our teeth into. This time, we get to see Briar’s story told in all its glory. She and Hayden mesh in such wonderful ways. The heat between them is both sweet and sexy.

These two character complement each other just as much as Dahlia and Asher do. I love the fact that the author has kept things centered around this wonderful family and the friends they meet along the way. Granted, not everything is hunky-dory between all of them, but we get to see these characters grow every step of the way. These characters have been constantly dealt hard blows. Life hasn’t been kind, but they’ve all managed to come out on top.

The Seattle Sound series is definitely a series you’ll want to pick up and dive into. Alexa gives us diverse stories that are tied to one another in more ways than one. I’m so looking forward to book three. So can’t wait!

Hayden Crewe loves his job and the perks that come with it.  But then his plans change.  Briar Moore isn’t sure where she wants her personal life to go.  She’s a woman with a lot of passion and it comes through as we get to know her.  What impressed me was that the author didn’t have our two main characters meet right away.  We get to see some of who they are first and what’s going on in their lives that eventually brings them together.  A disappointment was not actually being able to hear Hayden’s band play as I was reading.

This is a story which shows that sometimes even in grief something can flourish.  Our author reminds her readers that not all families are like the Nelsons or the Reeds (yes I know that these two families may be a little old for some of you readers).  Families split for one reason or another but I think it’s sad to think of someone – especially a parent – dying alone. Sometimes we just need someone to show us the way.  It’s a story that develops over time – this is how we fall in love with the characters.

There are also ups and downs – just like in any relationship.

Life is hard and not always kind but having someone there with you helps.  The sad moment for me was not knowing more about the characters that are introduced in book one of the series.  The good news is that I can go back and see what Dahlia and Asher are all about.  And not knowing about their backstory did not take anything away from my enjoyment of reading Hayden and Briar’s story.  This is one of those books that shows why authors are so good at what they do – creativity.  Just because I know how to speak, think, and write my name doesn’t mean that I’m creative enough to think up and create a whole world for two people that don’t exist.  I found Ms. Padgett’s ending to be interesting because I didn’t feel that it was an ending at all.  It felt open-ended so it will be interesting to see how she continues this series.
