How Mary Linton inspired a whole book series…

The NaNoWriMo 2019 Grand Experiment, Day 1: Writing Into the Dark = lower word count but better world-building!

For the first time since 1990-something, I'm trying a totally different process to write my next novels. I started writing up a whole post about this process and my thoughts about why it seemed to lead to better world-building than when I tried to create a world before starting a draft ... but it was getting really long and frankly, I got bored. So instead, I made a video!

Gangs in the Old West had cool, intimidating names, right? Well... not exactly. Here's how my research into this subject influenced the name of the gang in my steampunk western series...

Writing “into the Dark” for NaNoWriMo 2019: The Set-Up
